Smile What are your plans for Christmas this year?

Last year we had planned on having a Christmas just for our little family. Due to other family members not respecting our decision, they literally crashed our Christmas and ruined it. We have decided that in order to have a nice Christmas to ourselves for once, we are going to have to leave town. We are thinking about trying to rent a condo somewhere and go snowboarding with the kids. That is what they want for their gift this year so I am looking online to try and find some good deals. Hubby said if we have to just make it a day trip, then we are going to leave a message on our answering machine saying we are out of town for the holidays and then we'll turn off the ringer!

    What are your plans?

I'm with you Debbie. I'd like to take Dave and the girls and go out of town somewhere. People in my family (and Dave's for that matter) have been extremely selfish toward us lately, and I'd rather not get stressed out this year.

We aren't 100% sure on what we are doing. We were hoping to go to my Mom's for Christmas this year........she lives about 350 miles away and we haven't spent a holiday with her in about 7 years!! My FIL passed away in May of this year and my SIL who is a single mom with 2 teenage dd's wants us to stay in town and spend the holiday with her. I know she doesn't want to be alone this year but what will end up happening (I know this because she did it to us on 4th of July and Labor day) is she will plan everything and then call at the last minute and tell us she made other plans!!!!! I don't want to disappoint my Mom either so we still need to work this one out!!!!!!!

Mom alway's told me when I got married and had kids to start my own traditions and I told her I was planning on it. (so far that hasn't happened.) Reason being is my grandmother alway's made my uncle feel guilty if he did come home for Christmas (he was in GA and we were in NC) so they alway's had "Santa" for my cousins around 6 am and then before the presents were barley unwrapped they were in a car on their way to NC to spend Christmas with us and didn't go back until almost new years.....I alway's felt sorry for them.

We were talking at one point in time of the whole family (who ever can make it...parents, siblings and grandparents) would get together one weekend between Thanksgiving and Christmas and go out to dinner. I love that idea as I really don't want to spend the majority of 2 day's on the road. Besides the old We'll spend Thanksgiving here and Christmas there and vice versa next year wouldn't work with us since Joe is required to work Thanksgiving, and where I work we are open Christmas Eve, and I don't plan on spending the holiday's away from him and I will not let him leave me alone either.

Mom even said my dad and his girlfriend could come as well since I hardly ever see them. Now the only problem would be finding a date to do it. FIL works weekend nights, and that time of the year I wouldn't be able to get off during the week.

I guess I really have no idea what we are doing after all....lol

We are going to in laws Christmas Eve. But Christmas day at home. I am cooking a feast fit for a King! Every gift this years is to be made .Not bought. We do a  Winter/ Christs birthday kind of thing. I only have two brother left and one lives with me. So no one will bother us.We are all going to dress up in our best clothes to celebrate. I have 100 candles to light. And inscence to burn. I will cover everything with holly and pine ropes . I have some Celtic C.D,s to play. It will be a day full of love and thankfulness for us.There are 3 Witches and 3 almost Christians in one house so we do it all.!

Not sure yet. FH and I usually split the time up between families. I usually like to go to my aunt's house on Christmas eve (sort of a tradition, but didn't get to do it last year). Usually a weekend before or after Christmas at my mom's with my stepbrother and his family. Usually a big Christmas dinner at her house sometime before with a lot of people from her husband's family. Possibly Chirstmas morning with FH family and Christmas evening with my father and grandmother. One big difference is that not much money will be spent here this year.

We are doing things differently this year - Since my divorce Bob comes and gets the kids at noon on christmas and goes to his parents for the night - I love the traditional wake up christmas morning to the gifts but the kids don't have anytime to spend with one set of gifts and family before it is time to shower and get dressed for the grandparents house (always a dressy thing cuz of company). This year they will get their Christmas Pajamas on the 23rd and will get Christmas at our house on the 24th (my family has even agreed to come so now if Bruces' will) and I told Bob (Ex) to come get them earlier on Christmas day so his family isn't waiting til after noon. The kids will still get there stockings on Christmas morning and they will get the Christmas story on Christmas eve like always. I think it might be kind of nice for them. They will actually get a chance to enjoy the holiday with both families instead of stressing about time constraints... Wish us luck with this!!!

Christmas day? I'll be working a 12 hour day shift. My family will get together at some point- probably the weekend before Christmas. Dh's family will celebrate at 12:00 on Christmas day, no matter what my schedule is.

We've had it with ugly family members making one or the other of us feel like we shouldn't be there. Tried of the step mother side of dh's family truth be known, too many lies, false hope and just down right rudeness.

This year we are going to TEXAS! to spend Christmas with my family. DS will be picking up his brothers guitar that Mother has finally agreed on giving him and DH will be picking up his motorcycle that my mom is giving him now that she is too sick to ride. I will have the pleasure of a stress FREE Christmas this year. and the rest of the family can just kiss my foot!

I think it will be here at home, with dh and the kids, our last Christmas all together and I want to try and make it special for them.
