UPDATED AT THE END Don't you love it when you get a gift right?
Just wanted to share my warm and fuzzy feelings of the evening~ I'm not trying to brag, but this was such fun that I had to share. (And yes, this has restored my Christmas spirit-- now I'm motivated again to get the rest of my gifts done!
)
I ran around like a crazy person today getting things put together and wrapped so I could take my grandma her "12 days of Christmas" package. (I posted the links & idea last night here: 12 days of Christmas: printable, fun gift idea). I was so tired and stressed all afternoon, but I had to get this done tonight because this is the only time I could deliver it before she's supposed to start opening them Monday morning.
Grandma is housebound & has to have 24-hour caregivers, and has been in declining health and depressed lately. Tonight when I showed up with a huge 4-foot stocking (gotta love the Dollar Tree) and told her I was bringing her the "12 Days of Christmas" gifts, she actually cracked up.
During my visit she kept making comments about how she was going to call me if she didn't like a certain day's gift, or joking about opening them out of order. It was just so funny- that's my old grandma, the fun woman I remember from before she got sick. I am so glad I rushed and got this done for her~ if she liked getting the stocking that much, I can't wait to hear what she thinks of the dancing chicken that's waiting in one of the packages!

Oh Amy that sounds like such a fun gift. See there, I knew you'd get in the spirit. It only takes a little bit of giving to catch that spark. Good for you and your G'ma.

Yesterday's gift was the dancing chicken-- it's about 8" tall and plays the chicken dance while dancing around. (for the 9 ladies dancing verse) Get this- my grandma actually CALLED ME ON THE PHONE (a very rare thing indeed) laughing and invited me over to dance with them (her & the chicken). I think my grandma has probably called me about 5-6 times ever in my life- she's just not a phone person. It made my day hearing her laugh over a silly stuffed chicken.
