favorite Holiday/Christmas Menu
Christmas and Holiday Menus
I'm getting bored with my Holiday menu. I make it for every holiday all year long. What is your menu? Maybe I will get some good ideas to add/change to my menu this christmas.
My Holiday/Christmas Menu is:
Roast Turkey
Stuffing
Gravy
Mashed potatoes
Perogies
cabbage rolls
green salad
canned peas and corn
meat balls
buns
assorted pickles
cheese
Dessert is usually a good tray filled with assorted cookies and candies and peanuts.

Our Christmas meal is almost identical to our Thanksgiving meal because no one likes ham very much here.
We generally have items like turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, vegetable like corn, sweet potatoes, butternut squash, stuffing, rolls, candied carrots, black olives.
I like to have raw veggies and dip during the day. Crackers, cheese, and summer sausage too. Dessert is usually a pie and cookies. I like to have chocolates in the house and lots of fresh fruit.
We usually have our meal early. If you'd like to help support Frugal Living by Sara Noel, my syndicated column, e-mail, write, or call the managing editor at your local newspaper and ask them to publish it in print or online. We normally have the same thing we have for Thanksgiving, but I'm tired of it so this year we're doing something different.
Shrimp scampi and boiled shrimp
Parmesan biscuits
Deviled eggs (a carryover from Thanksgiving, but dh and I love them)
Chocolate cake
We'll add more to the menu, but we haven't a clue what! Every time we sit down to discuss it, we get sidetracked onto something else. We'll probably still be figuring it out on Christmas day, but that's no biggie since it's just the 3 of us at home anyway.

At mom's on Christmas Eve we alway's did finger/snack foods. We would have:
P&D Shrimp w/ cocktail sauce
Jalapeno poppers
Chicken wings
Chicken strips
Cheese sticks
and anything else that me, my brother or my step siblings wanted.
Christmas we would have a big meal almost identical to Thanksgiving as well as sausage balls for me to snack on all day...lol
Not sure what we will have this year. I know that since my grandfather passed away I think we are having Christmas lunch at my aunt and uncles this year.

It is almost always just DH and I for Christmas, but I like some traditional things...like dinner.
Christmas eve I usually make homeade pizzas. Quick, easy, delicious and casual.
On Christmas day we have a smaller version of Thanksgiving dinner:
Smaller turkey stuffed with bread stuffing
mashed potatoes
gravy
rolls
fresh broccoli
Early in the day I cut up fresh veggies and cheese with crackers to munch on throughout the afternoon, plus I make a pumpkin pie. We also have extras of all the cookies and candy that I have made for gifts. It isn't a huge eating fest though...it's just all there!
We have lots of leftovers which are more important to us than the actual dinner.
I hope you all enjoy your delicious meals!!

Would you like to share your recipe for sweet potato pie? Is it a side dish or dessert? I've never tried it - but always wanted to.

Hi Queenie! I just got your reply so I know it is too late to give it to you today.
Yes, I'll dig it out. I love it and there is no meat in it!
Merry Christmas!

It's usually just the 4 of us and we don't have a set menu from year to year, just what we think we'd like to have. This Christmas is pork roast stuffed with lots of garlic, garlic noodles (yes, we like garlic, lol) and pureed squash. Candy/cookies for dessert.
