    Default Dh's EXPEN$IVE XMAS LIST!

    WWYD??

My dh's list isn't very long but some big ticket items! His bday is in Decemeber also.

So far he's asking for a Remote Start for his truck and a new stereo as well. The stereo is over $200 and I'm sure the remote start is close to that. Every year I say lets cut back on our gifts to each other but he gets these out of control lists!

Now -- keep in mind that he hardly buys himself anything all year round so maybe he does have that kid mentality still. He works 50+ hours 6 days a week and does "deserve" it. Its just such a CRUNCH! Esp considering we have 3 other bdays besides his in the same month with Xmas!

I have the opposite problem - DH says he never wants anything, so it is hard to buy for him.

I say go for it but try to get the gifts as cheap as possible without sacrificing quality. You have a couple of months to research and save. Since you know the pattern, maybe next year start saving early.

You should be able to get the remote start for under $100; the price has really come down.

If you buy him those things, wrap them up in a copy of your budget.

I'd probably buy them if I could afford them, since he doesn't buy himself things during the year. It's a tough one though....

~48 yr. old sahw, livin' it up in our empty nest, smack dab in the middle of everywhere.~

They're are soo many remote starts now I saw TARGET had them @ one time too!

When I bought my EXPY it had a simple alarm basically for unlocking the door w/the remote or the keyless entry on the door. This was great for me because w/my Explorer I didn't have any type of remote.

I told DH I want to get a 2-way remote that has remote start in the alarm I was looking @ a few of them & he wanted to put a new stereo in since this only had a cassette deck. So ok I agreed I want to listen to cd's too NP! I'm not happy about his decision after it was done to my EXPY (the space behind the 3rd seat) I loved using to put the groceries in & keep my cooler, etc. stuff away from KEONA not that she'd eat stuff but she'll jump on it & stomp, etc. She's full of energy!

I ordered the mesh bag type divider that sits just about @ the edge of the SUV lift-gate area so stuff wouldn't fall out.

Well I can't use that anymore. So much for trying to organize everything in my EXPY. All my friends say yeah it's a bigger truck w/lots more space. The speaker & whatever things he wanted in it so it sounds "booom...boom...boom" is really loud & I get a massage sitting in my seat! TAKES UP TOOOO MUCH SPACE!

I'm not going to say how much his stereo cost but it was a custom built system one of the guys @ my mechanics put together & built the speaker box too! Now if I knew which stereo he was going to buy from Pioneer I probably would of got the one you can watch dvd's on. If I was too spend that much on it!

We have DEH-P6500 & DEH-P6600 (Don't ask me about any of the buttons on it I use the remote)

The new system had a problem & had to be re-placed (under warranty) so he had the mechanic put it another one & decided to put the 1st one in my Explorer since the tape deck was broken in it & we only had the radio.

So we we're arguing about what type of good alarm I was to have installed. & I got what I wanted a 2-way Viper one w/the remote start. (it takes regular AAA batteries) I told the mechanic to get me 2 remotes (for the just incase something happens to one of them & programming them both @ the same time is easier)

My original choice was a similar one that was a 2-way remote, then the mechanic said we should get the CLIFFORD one but talked to his alarm tech guy & found out the VIPER was the best.

I like the view of the remote when you do the remote start in the diagram of the car they show a puff of cloud coming outta the back tailpipe area means it's started. & also a battery indicator.

It's an extra $100 for another remote. I'm glad I got the extra one because somehow I lost the back of one of them about a year later. I keep duck tape on my other one now. I need to find a back.

If I want to spend more $$$ I can have something else installed & have GPS of where my vehicle is.

Remote start is great to have especially when you remember to set it to defrost on snowy days. I can be inside my house while DH is outside using the snow thrower & the ice just melts right off!

I don't like wearing coats when I drive so I may wear it outside then take it off since my EXPY is warmed up by now!

My DH is the same he never buys himself anything (except for beer & cigarettes) & gets other groceries while walking around the corner to the deli.

It's hard picking out gifts for him. When we we're going out I bought him a CRAFTSMAN tool chest & a few tools for it. So then after for a few years I'd buy him lots of the new tool sets w/the neat organized cases, etc.
