Mine *used* to get 6-10 but now will get one each. I'm simplifying Christmas. They're all grown and don't need as much for gifts as they used to (I always bought things they needed too like cute underwear....
and wrapped those up for Christmas too).

The 3 younger get 3 gifts each. The 3 older will get a gc. We don't exchange gifts with anyone else. My mom sends us a gift of money for the whole family.
This year for the first time, we purchased a large item as a family gift.

Dh and I buy our children 2-3 gifts each. From our family members they would get around 5 gifts. So that makes it 7 or 8 gifts.

I have no clue how much others will give them, but they are getting 8 each from us/Santa. I didn't vote in the poll because I don't know.

When they were small they recieved far more packages than they do now. Small kids more packages, xtra large kids fewer packages but more money spent.

I can't vote in the poll. We don't give a set # of gifts. Instead, we spend a set $ amount on ds so how many things he gets depends on how expensive the items on his list are.

Well.........I haven't simplified as much as I should and this is one area I tend to over do it. My dks don't get gifts from anyone other than us.......my SIL decided to stop exchanging gifts last year, my inlaws are both gone now and my side of the family lives 400 miles away and we don't spend Christmas together or exchange gifts. I voted 6-10 gifts but there could be more.......I also try to stick to a $ amount and not so much to a # of gifts

I'm curious if totals are per child or if people did total presents for all their children. I voted per child and then thought oops if I combined then it would have been more than I voted.

Well before Dh lost his job. The children would get 3 from us. ! large and 2 small + a stocking.
Then they get a gift from each Grandma and from 2 aunts.
This year they will only get a stocking from us ( I have a few things for them so far a free Yoyo Ma Cello Cd for Ds, a couple of thrift store books for Dd's).
And the gifts from Grandmas and Aunts. So 4 each + stocking.

Toooooo Many...
We have asked the grandmas to cut back some and just give a couple of gifts. I know they want to buy for ds but he gets too much and then just goes from toy to toy....
It will be a little different this year because my mil has decided to just give money so we will put that in his savings account....and ds will be getting a cow from my mom and dad...yes, I said a cow....its a tradition with the grandchildren....the other two have already gotten theirs....they get a certificate for a cow and when their cow has a baby/babies, when they get sold, ds will get the money for his savings account.....my sister lets her daughter spend all her money but we will let ds have a few dollars and then save the rest....later on..this will help teach him about money and saving...
we want him to have a simple life without mounds of toys.....I actually worked yesterday going through all of his toys to sell/give away before the infuse of Christmas gifts arrive.
Me and dh will get him a couple from us, two big presents and a stocking from Santa...

From us they get whatever with a set amount in mind. They also recieve gifts from my sis, their grandparents, an Aunt,an Uncle and their sweeties & their family. So I guess I'd say 11-15, that doesn't include stocking stuffers.

Each child will probably receive 3-4 small gifts from us(Santa) and then some stocking stuffers. However, I'm an only child and my parents do not know the meaning of restraint when it comes to their grandchildren, so they will probably each get quite a few things from my parents and from dh's father. We, as many of you have, have asked my parents to pare down what they buy. My children don't need tons of toys. I'd prefer they get one or two things and really use/play with/enjoy those things. Too much eventually causes who cares? They will also each get one present from a cousin in the cousin grab bag.
