Good question. I had been saying holidays to everyone. Then I realized that I was doing it. So my personal goal is to go back to Christmas!

With so many holidays at one time it seems only right to say happy holidays.

During the holiday season, I always say Happy Holidays, because I never want to assume that everyone I meet is Christian. So, if I'm at church, I will obviously say "Merry Christmas" since it's a pretty sure bet that everyone there is celebrating Christmas. However, to strangers or at school, I say "Happy Holidays" because I don't know what people are celebrating.

If I know they celebrate Christmas, I say Merry Christmas, but if they are a stranger to me I avoid it.
