It's Christmas Eve
what does everyone eat, and is it a tradition?
We are having:
Salmon Patties
Pierogies
Mashed Potatoes
Clear Mushroom Soup
Poppy Seed Bread
Cheese and Crackers
Fritos and Chili
Kidney Beans with Garlic
We have eaten this menu since before I was born.

During the day, we'll grab quick bites-- I'm thinking pizza rolls for lunch. Very festive, right?

Tonight, though is our traditional dinner at my parents' house. Mom goes all out with her good china and everything. This year, I don't have a clue what she's making. I do know that one of the side dishes is her famous "cheesy potatoes"-- potatoes with sour cream and cheese. Other than that, I have no idea. She didn't even want us to bring anything this year.

My MIL always gets sandwich fixin's so we can just make those before we open our gifts. She started this about ten years ago and we have kept it up ever since. The kids all LOVE it and we like it because it's easy on everyone (no cooking!).

Tonight, I'm going to a party/get-together on my dad's side of the family. It's at one of my Aunt's house. My parents are making Guacomole. I don't have a clue what other kinds of food will be there

We usually have fondue in the livingroom while looking at the tree. This year we are going to have happy hour in the livingroom with cheese and crackers and dinner will be comfort food & at the table~ meatloaf. During happy hour the kids get to open one present, their new jammies and they wear them to dinner, lol.

We're cooking out marinated chicken and twice baked potatoes, with salad on the side for our dinner tonight. It's not a traditon here. We usually have lots and lots of snack foods on Christmas Eve. but Gripey and I are trying to eat healthy this year (
). But watchout for me tomorrow, Katie bar the door!

We went to the inlaws. There were munchies like chips & pretzels & dip. Rye bowl & dip (my favorite!), cheese, crackers, & summer sausage. Oh and shrimp cocktail ...cold shrimp are definitely NOT my thing!
Then for dinner we had chicken cordon bleu, rice pilaf, asparagus, succotash
, salad, & dinner rolls. Not tradition to me, but it was good.
For dessert there was pecan pie, banana cream pie, cookies, fudge, and other yummies.
I was a good girl though
