Question Have you started making your holiday crafts?

If so what are you making? I always seem to do food gifts rather than craft gifts, but I think I may try to find some good crafts to make for gifts this year so I can make them way ahead of time. Christmas is always so hectic for me--my parents come up for the week, we have a big Christmas Eve party, and my dd's birthday is the 28th so we do a party around that time too. This year I'd like to make it a little less stressful.

Not yet. I am still working on compiling a list of everything I want to make (with ds) this year.

I know we will make some of the marbled ornaments (clear glass ball ornaments with paint swirled around inside).

I am thinking of making sequined ornaments with him. Take a styrofoam ball and use headed push pins to attach sequins all around. I am wondering how he will do with all the pins though. :surprise:

I also found 20 ct. packs of jingle bells at Dollar Tree for $1 each (compared to $3.99 each at JoAnn!) and I'm still trying to figure out what we'll do with those.

One year we made ear rings from jewlry findings, red ribbon and bells. We also got the big ball shaped bells and red cording and made necklaces. My daughter had so much fun with them.

I don't have any little ones to craft with but am still going to do crafts for Christmas this year.

First I have some cleaning to do just to find all my Christmas and Craft stuff (it got into a mess) then I will start.

I'm starting the cleaning and finding this week so it will be soon.

Got the list from the other thread to be organized. Now I am one step ahead!

I have started!!! It is amazing!!

This year I am making, well how can I describe these, it is a fabric that is chalkboard fabric and it will have a pocket for a calendar and some fabric around the edges.. like a chalkboard message board I guess you could call it..

Great in the kitchen for messgaes and all... and I will print out calendars with pictures of the kids for the grandparents..
I wish I knew how to attach a photo I have one I made for my kitchen as a tester :~)

And I saw on Carol Duval taking shutter and making christmas card holders and since we had some inside shuuters that I took down when we moved I thought perfect for the price of some craft paint I have some gifts.... and a new christmas decoration for me too..

I also handpaint ornaments with snowmen, trees, houses and things like that for teachers and people like that (all the family already has them)

    Eileen
p.s. I have never started this early before, I hope the trend continues and I get it done so I am not finishing all teh gifts christmas eve..

Ok, I have decided against the marbled ornaments, but will do something else with all the glass ball ornaments I have (stuff them with potpourri maybe).

Anyway, I am doing the sequined ornaments I previously mentioned but I'm not letting ds help me. I just had really bad visions of him with all those pins! I bought the remaining supplies I needed last night and have one ornament almost completed (worked on it while I watched shark week on the Discovery Channel). The Wally World I went to did not have green sequins so the ones I'm making right now are red, gold, and silver and I'm using gold ribbon for the hangers.

    Wow Capt. way to go!Last year I did a lot,sweatshirts with the kids hand prints(try unballing a 8 mo olds fist lol)cookie mixes,candles,gift baskets,journal jars,hm potpurri,lotions,bath salts etc.Oh and a scrap book.

I think this year I'll stick to the candles and make more kinds of mixes(soups, beans etc)Actually the mixes were requested from my sister who loved the way they looked and wanted them for decorations. So she is getting 5,but she wants them in all sizes even baby food.I'll make the baskets to put the stuff in(spray paint and ribbon and line with fabric.I like the ornament ideaI'm also making the usual gain 10 lbs a can goodies.

    Lightbulb Christmas Crafts

I am making wreaths and Ginger bread House tissue box covers for the ladies I work with. I have no idea what to do for everyone else. Last year I did the Cake in the jar route. I try to do something different every year.
