    Cool year around gift box?

I've kept a gift box of clearance specials bought for baby gifts, weddings, etc. Usually the best I've done is around $5 per gift.
Some people say they find things for as little as $3. Have any of you found $3 gifts? If so, what items? I'd like to find some Xmas and birthday items at these prices!!!

The very best gift item I have ever found was a little hibatchi type grill. I found em at Wally World for .75 ea. I bought about 10 of em and give em for graduation. (They were reg. priced at 6.00)

Great find PrairieRose!! I wish I would find them for that price. You could also give them as a wedding gift.

I found some toys in Jan. that were clearanced at WM for .50-15.00. I bought mostly the $1.00 ones and some $1.50 ones for the nieces and nephews and put them in my gift box for this Christmas.

Do you have a Dollar Tree store in your area? They have some great cassette/book combos right now for young kids (Old MacDonald theme). There are 6 different ones....

    Old MacDonald Had Some Ducks
    Old MacDonald Had Some Horses
    (Hens, Cows, Sheep, Pigs)

They are really cute - each has a couple of stories, a couple of songs, and a poem.

For $1 each you could give a couple as a birthday/Christmas gift (if you have young kids to buy for).

I have been picking up all these super lossleader school supplies (crayola crayons for .25, 1 subject notebooks for .15, etc) to put away as stocking stuffers and gifts for my friends little ones when they stop by. I had picked up lots of baby onesies for just over $1 each 2 years ago at a store closing, I just sent my last one out in a box of baby gifts I mailed to a friend who is due next week. I also receive a lot of small gifts at the holidays from my staff and clients that I do not need/want, they get turned around into baskets I make.

Target has alot of great toys marked down right now. I got many things for 49-79 cents yesterday. They had lots of sand toys, sidewalk chalk, jump ropes, lightwands, and many other items. Some stores are already pretty picked over but, some still have quite a bit.
