I start slow. The week after Thanksgiving I pull out my snowmen. Later I'll bring out the bigger stuff. Ending with the trees the first week of December. I don't like to have it up too early because with four kids & six pets it starts to be bedraggled. Plus I get tired of looking at it after a while.

Day after Thanksgiving, might actually be Thanksgiving day this year. My husband and I are staying home for a quiet Thanksgiving with just the two of us this year. I will probably pull a few things out, I plan on decorating light this year....I got a little out of control last year and after christmas, it was such a job cleaning and puting it all back.

I start the first of December and we have a party on the 6th to celebrate the Dutch christmas. The kids each get an ornament for the tree that day.

We normally do not decorate at all since we go on vacation through the holidays. But this year we are going away a week earlier and will actually be home for Christmas, so we are putting up a tree a and doing some decorating. I imagine we will start in the next week or so.

We usually wait until first week of December, but this year I want to try starting earlier. After thanksgiving little by little. I have 3 yr old twins and this year is going to be so exciting for them so I can't wait to get some decorations out to see their eyes light up!

I usually start slowly after Thanksgiving. The day after I relax while dh hits the sales. Then when the kids return to school, I'll start pulling the decorations out.

My parents always had an artifical tree and we always put it up Thanksgiving Morning while watching the Macy's Day Parade. In our family thats the tradition! Dh grew up at an children's home called Mt. Mission School in Grundy, Va. There the tree wasn't put up til Christmas Eve after the kids were in bed.
So we have our own combination of traditions.
Tree is always real! WOW!! What was I missing, but it doesn't get put up til the week of our Dance Group Hoilday Party. Which this year is the 2nd. So that part moves around a bit.
I also start to write my Christmas Cards the afternoon of Thanksgiving. We have always gone to familys for the meal around 11 so there is usually lots of time to do it when we get home in the afternoon. DH watches football and I settle down at my diningroom table with some Christmas music and a glass of eggnog. The rest of the house and yard usually follow within a few days.

I usually put mine up the day after Thanksgiving. Last year we were in the middle of moving, so I didn't put up many decorations and our tree was a tiny afghan pine from the grocery store (I didn't want to pull out the big fake one). We ended up getting rid of the fake one (it was ugly) so I'm not sure what we're gonna do this year. I've been worrying about school so much that I haven't given the holidays much thought yet.
