for those that have christmas stockings
Do you open them before regular gifts or after? We do stockings last here. I'm thinking this yr of doing them second to last and holding off one gift for each of the children until later Christmas evening as a surprise.

Here, stockings are the cherry on the sundae. They are done last. After all the presents are opened and they are starting to play with the new stuff, someone will suddenly remember. OH! We still have stockings

They usually go through them while I make breakfast.

As a child, and this is something I have carried on for Alex, we would go to bed with the stockings under the tree. When we woke in the moning the stockings were full at the foot of our beds. We were allowed to eat as much from our stocking as we wanted. We were not allowed in the living room until my parents woke up. They would close the living room doors and their bedroom door. We would sit outside their bedroom and quietly make as much noise as we could to wake them. Years later when we came home with Alex for one Christmas I remember my mom telling me they often would be up all night assembling toys and had just crawled into bed when they would hear us outside the door. lol
Stockings are a huge part of my Christmas tradition. Mike would love to get rid of it but I won't let go.
Thanks for the warm fuzzy memory.

Stockings are first here.
Start off small and work up to the big stuff, lol.

Stockings first here. In my family growing up it was the same way. We kids were allowed to open our stockings as soon as we got up but we couldn't bother the presents or our parents until a "reasonable" time. The sister closest to me in age & I both have some fun memories of our youngest sister coming in and telling us what was in our stockings once we got older and less interested in rising at dawn (or before).

Hey Yankee Mom, I love your Christmas tree!
Stockings are first here too. And this year I am thinking of putting them in the childrens bedroom (non of them believe in Ssnta anymore, boohoo) at the foot of their beds. AND this year Dh and I are going to have stockings too!

Everyone gets their stocking on Christmas Eve. It's been a tradition in our home since our oldest son was born and we've carried it on for 37 years.

This year, hubby wants to do stockings on Christmas Eve. But, I'm sure it's because he wants his spicy pecans that I put in his every year, LOL. He is such a kid.

We open our stockings first here. I always did as a child and so my kids too. I do wrap everything in them which my parents did not. The reasoning being two fold the first was to buy us enough time to make coffee, the second was to extend the happy morning for a little bit longer.

I'm not really sure. I don't wrap the presents from Santa so when they get up they see that first. Then they go for the stocking. We open presents later.
