Help--I'm having a party!
I've never had a Christmas party!!! I've been to many and figured it's time to have one at our house. We're inviting five of our favorite friends (and their kids) over for a pajama party!! I can't wait. I've been to so many that I've had to get dressed up for and I really just want to be comfortable and have everyone else be, also.
For the kiddos, I'm doing chicken nuggets or pizza--totally kid friendly food. What do I make for the adults?? We're also doing a gift swap. Any ideas for adult games?

Just hosted our dance groups annual Ornament Exchange Saturday night. Who knew my house could hold 63 folks! I was a blast! Fortunatly it was the hotest Dec. 2nd on record 75 at 7pm and we were able to open up double sliding glass doors and use back porch and back yard for overflow.
As you can see we do an ornament exchange! This party has been going on for 15 years with our group. I've held the last 3 parties. The ornament can be any type the uglier the better, the tacier the better. Althought we do have some folks who bring beautiful ones. All are wrapped and placed on a table. You get a number when you come in and then the fun starts. Number One opens and holds. Then number two opens, now number two can trade with one or stand pat. And so on throught the numbers. We've had folks try and hide in order not to lose and ornament. This year their were 3 favorites and Armidillo one, A Moose head(small) with wreath and blinky nose and an S&M Santa(don't ask!!). It takes us about an hour to 2 to go all the way throught but the laughs are worth it. We used to do the exchange as couples but now its individuals that way couples can double team on a favorite.
As for eats I make a ham, deviled eggs and poppers and everyone brings a covered dish. We always have more than enough food and drink.
As for dress jeans and barefeet are always welcome sitting on the floor is often a requirement to get everyone in our group photo. I'll see about posting a photo tonight.
Most of all enjoy yourself and your friends. Times too short to worry about small things.

~I think since your pj theme is so relaxed you could do something simple and different than other Christmas parties. Perhaps 3 flavors of soup simmering in crockpots with bread and rolls. I'd be tempted to just do pizza for everybody. Add a salad and some cookies. You shouldn't be so busy that you don't have fun at your own party. Hope it goes great for you!~

i think some type of chili sounds great. then have some shredded cheese & onions to top off the chili with if desired. you don't want to get to fancy if its a pj party. chili goes pretty well at any type of party. then that way you can make hot dogs for the kids, and if the adults want to have chili dogs to, they can. i hope my ideas help!!!! have fun with your party & don't stress out to much!!!!

laurie,
We do the same thing at our adult Christmas party at church. We call it Round Robin, and it is a hoot. You would be surprised at what folks fight over, hehe!
Cricket,
I would give Laurie's game a try. I promise, everyone will have a blast, and I like the ornament idea too. As for food, I would serve lots of finger foods and maybe a taco bar so everyone could help themselves. Have fun!!!
