    Question Fabric or Yarn gifts?

I'm looking for gifts I can make out of leftover fabric or yarn (think 1/4 yd fabric or less...1/2 skein of regular red heart yarn or less)...

I hate for these things to go to waste. I'm not super creative...but willing to work hard to learn how to do/make new things.

Looking for ideas for all ages -- little girls to older women...and things I could make for grown men (Dh, Dad, Uncle). These would be for birthdays and Christmas for the most part...

Would sure appreciate any input! I can't believe the year is half over already!! Where is the time going?! I'm running out of time to make things, ideas, and money... (Guess that would be normal, though...hehehe )

What about lavendar sachets to stick in drawers? You could cut the fabric with pinking shears, put a bit of dried lavendar in the middle and tie it up with the yarn.

Do you crochet or knit? If you do, you could make crocheted chains or i-cord for the ties.

Do you have enought 1/2 skiens to make up a crazy quilt type afgan? My mom always matches up her 1/2 skiens and makes striped hats and mittens. Even the adults in our family look forward to them.
Out of material scrapes we get pot holders and pot handle covers. Great for cast iron pans that heat up too much.

You can make scrappy quilts out of the fabric. Just cut a bunch of squares all the same size, 6 1/2" is a good size, and sew them together. You can tie the layers together.

I have very limited quilting skills, but I may be able to pull that off...doesn't sound too difficult... Do you know a website with a pic?

Here's a link to a real simple pattern. You can make the squares any size you want.

I've crocheted around squares of material (zigzag the edges first if it's one that is prone to fray), then joined the squares for an afghan. . .

Use the fabric to cover inexpensive journals and notebooks. . .

Hair scrunchies, hanging towel toppers, for the yarn.

    Make throw pillows with the fabric. . . . book totes. . . . hair scrunchies. . . trim towels in a quilt fashion. . . draft stoppers. . . water bottle carriers. . .
