    Default Christmas Gifts

Do you all make a lot of gifts for Christmas? This is one of the main reasons I would love to learn to knit or crochet. I have attempted crocheting but I can't ever get my stitches to lay square. I always end up crocheting in a circle? Where did most of you learn to crochet or knit?

I learned from a book. If your work is going in circles it is because you are keeping the yarn too tight on one side, but not on the other. Try going for about 6-8 stitches and then smooting out your work before going on for another groutp of stitches. Also, it is common to need to iron your work after you finish it.

I learned to crochet from a book and how to knit from a website www.knittinghelp.com , they have videos that show you step by step how to knit. I think that there are websites to help with crochet also. Try googling crochet tutorials and see if any webvideos come up.

I learned to crochet from just watching my now ex-MIL. I learned to knit by watching a video, and singing the song as I went along... yes... even in public .. I learn best when I am watching someone... http://www.fiberartshop.com/knclbg.htm

    To knit -
    In through the front door,
    Run around the back,
    Hop through the window,
    Off jumps Jack.

    To Purl -
    Under the fence,
    Catch the sheep,
    Back we come,
    Off we leap
I can't be out of money... I still have checks left!
