    Smile Christmas Gifts

Just wondering if anyone is working on Christmas presents yet? I've almost gotten a table runner done for my FIL and MIL, then i'm moving on to a Pineapple pattern for my SIL. Would love to hear about other ideas!

I haven't even thought of gifts yet. Money will be tight this year with moving and everything. Everyone will be lucky that we can afford to buy stamps and cards this year.

I've already finished 2 afghans. I'll be starting to sew camp blankets for all the kids next.

I want to make a shawl for my MIL, but I don't know if I will have time this year. My classes are such that I really don't have time to knit & they don't end until the second week of December...kind of tight for getting things done on time.

In the past, I've made fabric (christmas fabric) gift bags in an assortment of four sizes. I box them out on the bottom with the appropriate stitching so there's enough room to fit bigger items. I used cording for the closure and you just tie the bag up in a bow to close it.

I bought the fabric on sale after the holidays and they were simple and cheap to make! They were a hit too! I gave them to friends/SILs. They each got a set of 4.

I have made some small Xstitch "I (heart) America" wall hangers. They are about 1 1/2" x 2 1/2" with wool backing and leather strips for the hangers.

I also put up a whole bunch of jams, salsas and syrups to give.

I have about 3 different quilted items to start: a carrot shaped table runner and 2 different snowman wall hangings.

I also have a pattern to make a wool knitting needle case for my Mom and MIL.

And finally, if my niece does adopt the brother/sister she has been fighting for since March, I want to make them each a quilt to welcome them into the family.

    Default Question for quilting mommy

Do you make your salsa fresh and then give it to them.

I was wanting to learn how to can salsa, but found all these articles about it being too acidic??

I make several kinds of salsa but just tell people to keep in refrigerated?

    thanks

I've covered 6 people from Dollar Tree for less than $30. I'm going to start knitting my every Christmas kitchen washclothes soon. I don't know what I'll do for my boys yet. I can't make them something, but I will be shopping around for cheap stuff. They love my cookies, so I'm thinking I'll make each of them a tin of cookies, with the recipe cards enclosed. They're old enough to make their own now.

I made my coworker a baby sweater, with 1.00 pure wool yarn I found at the thrift store. I was so pleased with it I gave it to them as soon as I was done (yesterday) and they were really happy. It's not quite perfect (note the buttons) but they loved it, new parents are the best!

Brown isn't really a baby color, but with cute buttons (they are tiny sailboats!), who cares?
