    Default Who sends Christmas cards?

I send the regular boxed variety. Although I do make sure they are nice. Last year, I only received two of them and the rest were the kind that get printed out with kids/family pictures on them with a preprinted greeting.

Confession time: PLEASE DON'T THROW TOMATOES AT ME!!! I DO NOT like getting the ones with kids pics on them. I think they are impersonal--people don't even have to sign their names. Keep in mind that I have two kids and I don't think that everyone needs/wants to get a picture of them. I'll go hide now!

Well I dont normally send Xmas cards at all since I see most of the family on Xmas anyways... that's when they get their cards from us, lol.

As for throwing tomatoes I dont mind getting them but personally I think it's such a waste of money (DONT THROW TOMATOES AT ME NOW!) I would much rather have a handwritten signature card.

I send religious boxed cards to everyone on my list. I just love them and it reminds me of what Christmas is all about.
I also have a large family and I like to receive Christmas cards with the kidlet's pics on them. While I know all my 1st cousins we only seem to get together for weddings and funerals and I have not seen all of their kids. I am not sure how many but its some where around 52 grand and great grand children for my grandfather and still counting. So for me it's nice to see cousin Dee's son and how much he looks like her.

I send the photo ones to all of my family and friends. We always sign ours, or at least I sign them for the family. For many of my family members this is the only photo they get of my kids all year.

I also have a photo collage of each and every one of their card photos. It is so nice to stop in the hallway, look at my photos and see how much they have changed from year to year.

I love to get them from others also. I always put them in my scrapbooks or frame them.

For people I do not know as well, like doctors' offices, our attorney, kids' friends families, DH's employees and co-workers, card exchanges, etc....I send regular cards. I do try to find nicer ones or make my own.

I have a lot of extended family that we barely ever see and I enjoy getting photos of the kids. I have to admit that the preprinted photo ones are not my favorite.

Last year I sent the boxed cards that have a place to slip a photo in them, but you still have to sign and write notes, etc. This year, as I usually do every other year or so, I make my own with the kids. We slip a photo inside the card, still.

I send out "winter cards." I have a number of Jewish friends, for example, friends who wish to defy commercialized holidays or would rather focus on things like the winter season in general, and my family isn't at all religious. I also don't care much about Christmas, but more about the season so it doesn't even fit me to send out Christmas cards specifically.

This year I'll probably send out one-sided, flat cards as postcards, thanks to postage costs. May even use just the printed side of folded cards I already have.

LOL I dont mind updates and lil letters with updates so long as they relate to you. If you know OF lil Timmy and dont really know him personally - whats the point?? KWIM?? The cost of postage going up I will be buying the "P" stamps - you pay the current price when you buy them but can use them 5 yrs from now even if the postage has risen by a huge amount at least we have those here in Canada.

Another thing - the family letters that GLOAT that they are all caught up the Jones' and are now trying to outdo them - THOSE I do not wish to receive. A picture inserted into the card is great for catching up when you're not as in touch as you could've been through the year but honestly if I see you 20 times/wk and talk to you non stop - do you really have to mail me a card with a pic of you?

I love snail mail as well! The only thing I receive are bills and junkmail. I dont mind spending a lil bit of money on communication or something that would mean something to me - real snail mail seems more sentimental b/c the sender actually had to put time into writing it, sending it etc. vs an e-card that you know everyone else is receiving as well.

I love getting picture cards at Christmas, I love seeing how people have changed or not changed. I don't like getting the brag letters, though!

I'm cutting back this year, I'll probably send out about 10-15 cards. I used to mail out about 40. I'm sending cards to my aunts, whom I haven't seen all year, and sending one back to anyone who sends us one.
