Default christmas gift for 16 year old girl

We have an Angel Tree at Church. I need to purchase (toy) gift/gifts for a 16 year old girl. I have NO idea what to buy. Our spending needs to be around $40. I would really appreciate your thoughts!

    Thank you! Vanessa

All my 16 year old daughter wants are gift cards so she can pick out her own things! I always found Target to be a good store for gift cards. They have clothes, accessories, music, movies, etc.

Bath and Body Stuff. My brother's girlfriend loves perfume. Movies? Books? Subscriptions to magazines?

Think gift cards. Ipod and Target are the biggies that have been requested by our dd of the same age.

My DD is 17, and she would love gift cards or certificates to places like Forever 21, Aeropostale, etc. Makeup is good, bath & body works stuff, as someone else mentioned jammies, i-tunes would be another great one if she has an ipod or way to access them, nail polish stuff. It's hard without knowing the girl, huh? We do a gift collection at work for kids 10-18, and sometimes it's downright funny to see what people think is appropriate for kids these ages. Usually they're too young for the kids or too old, but it's the thought that counts!

I agree with Aeropostile, bath and body, or Hollister gift cards. Old Navy is a good one too!

thanks you all. i am not sure if the girl is able to "shop" at some of the places mentioned. a lot of times we get handicapped children and children with mental disabilities.

Not to be contrary, but if this is an Angel Tree this child might not have a way to get to these stores to use the gift card.

I would think bath kits, makeup kits, cool socks, a funky hat/scarf/gloves, maybe a purse and wallet or a sweatshirt from one of the trendy "teen" stores, games and books would make a great gift.

Look on avon.com . I think there's free shipping with a $10 order. I just ordered a lipgloss set for my dd (10 colors) for $10.

There is a cute store in our mall named Limited Too. I just bought a Webkinz and a cute pair of footie socks w/ dachshunds on them for myself for Christmas (a present to myself from DBF!) Maybe you could try looking there? They have a lot of cute "girlie" stuff.
