Default Best material gift you've ever received

I was thinking about this tonight & mine goes back many years when I got a transistor radio for Christmas. In my teens I was in heaven at the park or wherever I walked or rode my bike to, listening to music and singing along. Things were hard. (dad died when I was 13) & music sent me to different places and let me know "everything was going to be allright". Music was & still is my "happy spot" and I hope todays ipod listeners find theirs too. I think it's (music) the catalyst that has molded me into the easy going, happy person I am usually on a daily basis, still listening & singing. Every single day.

What about your favorite material gift?

I loved to roller skate and my parents got me a very expensive nice pair of roller skates for Christmas when I was 13, I was in hog heaven!

Some of my most memorable gifts have been the ones that family or friends have made for me. My fleece blankie, my snowman doorstop, my plastic bag holder made from tea towels, aprons my mom's made. My Veggie Tales nativity set that dh got me the first year they came out I love that thing and all the Fitz and Floyd Santas that dh has gotten me. I love to give and get gifts so I have a tendency to remember the givers!

My dishwasher. I was a new mom, newly divorced and working full time... I know it's not frugal to have one but man did I cry when my parents got me that.

When I was little I carried around (for a lovey) a raggedy ann. Every year by Christmas Eve she was mended as much as she could be. I would set her under the tree, with a note to Santa that could he please fix her. Lo and behold when I got up a new raggedy ann would be sitting in her spot. I collect raggedy ann's to this day!
