    Default Live Christmas Tree

Is it too early to put up a live tree. I have never had one and my daughter and I think it is a great idea for this year. I just don't know if it will survive for New Year (when I usually take down my tree).

If anyone knows, I would love your feedback. Thanks

We put up a live tree every year. We usually buy it the weekend after thanksgiving. Make sure they give you a fresh cut and that you put it in water immediatly after you get it home. ( a fresh cut is when they take a saw to the end of the trunk after you choose your tree.) We always feelt the water container with hot water the first time. It seems to help the tree absorb the moisture faster. Also add some tree fresh powder or liquid , it will really help to preserve the tree. Good luck! Nothing smells better than a fresh cut tree during the holidays.

We go north and cut our own trees, so they last a pretty long time. Commercial cut trees are sometimes cut in Oct! Lots and lots of water, if the water dries up, the bottom of the tree will seal off and won't obsorb anymore. You can also add glycerin and sugar to your tree water (I have a recipe somewhere)

We buy a live tree - roots and all - and then plant it outside after the holidays.

u will also want to put something decorative underneath for when the needles fall off. if u dont then vacum them up everyday so u dont get needles everywhere. thats the thing i hated about natural ones.
