We do not put up a tree in our apartment, but my grandparents use colored lights. When we have kids, I will probably use blue and white lights b/c those are my favorite.

4) WHO DO YOU WISH YOU COULD SEE AT CHRISTMAS?
My brother Nicky.

5) WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE HOLIDAY DISH (EXCLUDING DESSERT)?
Mashed taters. Anytime of the year.

We don't put Christmas decorations up in the apt., but my grandparents put theirs up the weekend after Thanksgiving.

7) FAVORITE HOLIDAY MEMORY AS A CHILD?
Waking up Christmas morning and seeing all of the gifts under the tree! (They were never put out until Christmas morning.) Also the candle-lit service at church on Christmas Eve and the "magic" feeling of Christmas.

I don't remember.

Not anymore.

We don't have a tree! My grandparents have a ton of different ornaments from when their kids were young, also a bunch of lamb and bear ornaments, etc. My grandma bought me an ornament every year from when I was 1 week old (born Dec. 17) until recent, so I have a lot, we just don't put a tree up.

My great grandma used to send us a huge box of cookies that she made every year. She's gone now, but I still remember her cookies. The box always smelled like moth balls, LOL, but the cookies were good!

Cinnamon buns for breakfast Christmas morning and opening presents in our PJs.

I like giving. A LOT. I love, love, love picking the perfect thing out for everyone and seeing their faces on Christmas morning. It's SO hard for me not to tell people what I got for them. That said, I won't turn down a gift!

My friends....I asked my mom...this is embarasing, I was 12! My folks really played it up and said they would never lie to us about it...um, ok.

We open all our gifts on Christmas eve. Christmas day was spent with extended family opening gifts. This year we are staying home and starting our own family traditions, so we might open one early.

10) HOW DO YOU DECORATE YOUR CHRISTMAS TREE?
Its very froo-froo. White lights, bows, all matching, velvet ribbon garland and very orante ornaments. When the kids wre young, we let them decorate and bought a character baloon for the topper...ernie one year, bert, mermaid, etc.

11) SNOW....LOVE IT OR HATE IT?
Both! Love it if I can stay inside and watch it. Maybe go out and play in it for 30 min or so. Hate it when I have to be out in it.

12) CAN YOU ICE SKATE?
not well. I'm ice skating challenged. Used to skate as a kid, but would hate to think what I would do out here now.

13) DO YOU REMEMBER YOUR FAVORITE Gift?
A set of plastic horses my big brother gave me. He was so thougthful and saved his money to buy them. He since passed away and I still treasure the memory of them. I absolutely loved them.

14) WHAT IS THE MOST IMPORTANT THING ABOUT THE HOLIDAYS FOR YOU?
Time with family. Also that Because of Jesus' sacrifice I can have eternal life and a relationship with him that is my strength and hope.

cereal bars. I think it was an old depression recipe, but I love it. Its a family tradition. They are so yummy!

All the family cramming together in one room, just love the hecticness of it. there are 20 "grown-ups" and 40-some grandkids (many married W/kids now). so lots of togetherness, lol.

having to split time between families (both sides are in the same general area), sometime the families make comments about spending more time with the other side. One thanksgiving (about 20 years ago) we were presented with a time sheet (by one of our moms) of where we spent how much time. Awkward, dumb, and made me feel bad, so we never traveled back for Thanksgiving after that...never. We get occasional comments about that at Christmas, but not too often anymore. Also, my brohter was killed 2 weeks before Christmas, so that is always hard.

My family doesn't celebrate Thanksgiving so growing up we put them up on Thanksgiving since we had the day off

Like I said, we didn't have Santa. Though we had St. Nick who would leave candy in our boots on the stairs. When I moved to the U.S. and heard about Santa I thought my friends were delusional, haha.

In Germany all presents were usually opened on Christmas Eve. Later we opened just one, but now I really don't know anymore.

Lights on the house, weekend after thanksgiving, like this weekend. The tree? only about two weeks before (real tree).

7) FAVORITE HOLIDAY MEMORY AS A CHILD?
HAHA mine's weird. On our first Christmas in the new house, we found my mom's gift stash and knew every gift we were getting. There was even a gift for me that my mom had wrapped at the store and my sister figured out what it was and told me. I felt kinda bad because she wanted that one to be really special...but to us, the fun of knowing what everything was and the 'detective work' beforehand was so much more fun.

8) WHEN AND HOW DID YOU LEARN THE TRUTH ABOUT SANTA?
I always knew, mom told us about santa, but also that he wasn't real.

9) DO YOU OPEN A GIFT ON CHRISTMAS EVE?
We open the majority of our gifts on Christmas eve. My mom's parent's and that side of the famly comes to our house on Christmas eve, and we open all their gifts and all the ones in our family. On Christmas day, we go to my dad's parent's house, and it's more about the eating and less about the gifts.

10) HOW DO YOU DECORATE YOUR CHRISTMAS TREE?
HUGE string of lights with lots of 'options', then garland, then as many ornaments as we can fit on it. We've had almost all of them since I was little.

11) SNOW....LOVE IT OR HATE IT?
It's pretty, but can't drive in it, can't do anything like that....so I like the idea of it.

12) CAN YOU ICE SKATE?
decently well.

You know, as much as I think about Christmas, I can't think of a favorite one...We got out the dollhouse every Christmas though, it wasn't a gift but we only got it out at Christmas, I loved the dollhouse.

Family.

We don't put Christmas decorations up in the house since we go on vacation. We do heavily decorate our resort room. We put the tree up and do all of the decorations the day we arrive.

Have only seen it a couple of times in my life so I have no opinion on it. It is not a part of the holidays for us since we have been known to wear shorts on Christmas day and go swimming on Christmas Eve.

Yes. We have an indoor rink here and I took lessons as a child.

From DH - a BMW 535i (that was totaled 6 months later.)
From my mom and dad - a TV and a Bible when I was 8(which I still have both 26 years later).
From my kids - A $0.50 piece wrapped in notebook paper from DS and a dry erase board DD decorated with permanent markers.

This sounds so bad - but getting it over with. I do not care much for the holidays and look forward to January 1st. DH says I am the female, modern day version of Scrooge.

I am not a desert type person. I may get a piece of this or a bite of that, but there is not anything I just have to have.
