Christmas in Febuary
Dh and I are not going to be able to give gifts to eachother. Every year we agree to put eachother last. We buy for everyone else and if there is anything left we buy for eachother. IT never seems to work out that we have any left for ourselves. So we have decided to solve the problem.
We have agreed that from now on we wont even try to buy for eachother. INstead of christmas our new Holiday is going to be VAlentines. We dont have any other holidays or bithdays to interfer and we can take advantage of the January clearance sales. And NOW Christmas gan truely just be about giveing and not receiving.

DH and I do this on our birthdays. His is in June and mine is in September. We usually go out to eat at our favorite place alone, and then buy each other something we know the other really wants. We never buy for each other at Christmas, it's enough for us to know everyone else has something nice.
This year though, we are thinking we may just take a weekend this summer and go somewhere alone together for maybe 3 days. Since school will be out, youngest DD can stay with oldest DD.

That is a really great idea! We normally don't do anything for each other on Christmas, just becuase of the budget crunch. I never thought about skipping it all together and doing it on Valentine's day! I think I might have to suggest it to him!

Since having kids dh and I have never bought Christmas presents for each other outside of what we stick in our stockings. The stockings have a $15 limit on what goes in there. We do this because through out the year if we (dh & I) want something we get it, might take a couple paychecks to budget the cost in, but we get it. As for the kids we get what they need through out the year, but with their wants it has always been that would be a great thing to ask for Christmas or your birthday. We have always felt Christmas was about fullfilling the wishes of a child. Even now I would rather adopt a needy family and do Christmas for those kids then have dh and I buy gifts for each other. Before we had kids we would go take the last couple of Angels off the Angel Tree to make sure those kids had Christmas.

Great idea! My BF's birthday and my birthday are about a week apart in late January/early February. Maybe we should do the same.

I really love that idea. Dh birthday is December 18th and then christmas the following week and then going out shopping for everyone and cooking. That would be a nice thing to start and relieve some pressure.
You just gave us all a new way to relax and enjoy christmas with our sweety.Maggi

We are kind of doing that this year. I am getting a laptop for christmas. But just a IOU. We will really buy me one in Feb. when we get our tax return back. It will be a gift because is something I would never just go out and buy for myself. I dont even own it yet and already feel guilty about it.
