Default How Long Does it Take You to Clean up From Christmas?

For those of you that celebrate Christmas...how long does it take your family to get everything where it goes and trash out to the curb? It used to take my family FOREVER...like, to the end of January until everything got to where it needed to be. Now, I'm like a crazy person. Last gift opened...LET's GO! Everything is put where it belongs, cardboard is folded and wrapped, trash is put in the cans outside and taken directly to the curb. I can't stand the mess anymore that comes with Christmas.

    Anyone else?

It varies from year to year depending on DH's schedule.

This year Christmas was on Saturday and DH left Sat night. He's gone until the wee hours of Jan 1 - so I have nine days that I plan to just pick away at the mess.

Yesterday it was getting the kitchen put back together and getting the Christmas dishes packed back up to be put in storage. Today is gathering all of the giftwrap, card board boxes, etc....and getting that all in the trash. Tidying up the gifts (they'll sit under the tree)

Tomorrow it'll be going through all of the new stuff and finding homes for it all and purging some old stuff to make room. Also tomorrow will be dealing with the leftovers - chopping up the ham, making bean soup, etc.....

Friday we're having friends over to play for a "Holiday Hangover Happy Hour" so I have to have the house at least presentable by then!

Trash will be bagged and taken to the garage by tommorow night- trash night.

Gifts will be sitting under the tree for a week or so- slowly we'll find them new homes.

The tree and decorations usually stay up until at least New Year's day, sometimes until Epiphany. This year I'm ready to be done with them, though, so they might come down earlier.

Not too long, but we don't have guests so it's not too comparable.

Not too long for us either, actually everything is pretty much cleaned up as far as presents wise, but tree will come down next week or this week while DH is at work so it's not that bad.

I like to take down the tree myself since I have my own way of doing it without getting anything broken, lol

All the presents are usually put away on Christmas day and then I pick at the decorations a little at a time.

Gosh, my place is a disaster zone right now. Don't really want to do anything about it either.

    My plans for this week:

Today get gifts (and some hampers of clean laundry) into the right rooms
    Tomorrow do a quick cleaning
Next weekend: Buying some shelving and storage containers and my basement is getting its butt whupped! Once that is together I will finally put my Xmas decorations away properly!

I'm pretty much done. The baby was up all night, so I did what I wasn't too exhausted to do, my parents were here for most of the day, and now I'm resting. I'll do the rest tomorrow.

Everything is opened & the trash out of the house on Christmas day. But the toys & new gadgets seem to hang around the living room for a few more days. It currently looks like a toy factory threw up in my living room.

I absolutely LOVE Christmas, it's my favorite holiday. That being said, I don't decorate until a week b4 Christmas and if I was home today, I would start taking things down. Everything will be put away and my house will be back in order by Saturday night! I cannot stand the clutter during the holidays!

I decorate and put up the tree and decorations the day after Thanksgiving. Then the day after New Year's I put away the tree and all my Christmas Decorations. This year I am working full time, so I will be at work the day after New Year's. The decorations will come down over the weekend of Jan. 6th this year. I'd take them down earlier, but I hope to have people over for a small New Year's Eve party.

The presents, which feels like I was given a million from my overly generous family are all sitting in my office to be looked through and sorted into what rooms they belong in/where they will go. My hope is that I can purge some old things while making room for the new.

I got everything done Christmas night. The kids went by their dads for 5 hours, so I got to work. Opened al toys and threw away all garbage. Put away tree and all decorations. Vacuumed and put everything back the way it was. All kids toys in the right rooms, and my presents put in a spot already. It feels like any other day today, which is ok w me because I was not in the spirit this year!

This is normal, the kids always go by dads, and gives me time to clean it MY way! LOL
