Default Who's planning knitting for Christmas '08?

    I think I will.

This year, it worked well for me to make hats for some of DD's friends. I used worsted weight alpaca, doubled, and large needles. In one week, I made 3 hats.

Maybe ... if wrist warmers are still fashionable ... I'll do assembly-line wrist warmers for the girls' friends next year.

    Me Me Me!!!

I already finished a Harry Potter scarf for DD... but I have a lot more to do...

    sweaters for Barbie/Ken/Bratz/American dolls
    dresses for Barbie/Bratz/American Girl dolls
    coats for Barbie/Ken/Bratz/American Girl
    sleeping bags for Barbie/Ken/Bratz

-- with the dolls styling and profiling (and using up the last of the scraplings -- I plan on making people clothes...

sweaters (maybe -- If I can figure out the people sizes)
    slippers
socks (I will do it... I will, I will, I will... I hope)
    scarves
    hats
    mittens
    leg warmers
    purse
afghan for DD (unless I crochet it)

I think thats all there was on the 'to knit' list for 2008
I can't be out of money... I still have checks left!

I do more crocheting, but I made my dd a knitted shrugall that went over well, so I'll probably make each of my dil's one too.

I'm going to make all the members of our USMC family support group a knitted USMC dish cloth.

Not sure what else, as my knitting skills are rather limited.

Me too. I think I've started a tradition of knitting each of my kids socks for Christmas. I'd also like to knit my grandfather a pair of socks for Christmas in '08.

Fingerless gloves are in also...and super easy to make. I make them on a loom, but they are easy on reg needles also. Many patterns online. I made a pair for a friend..I made them longer(to an inch or so shy of elbow) and instead of stitching them closed...I looped ribbon in them and tied a bow at end(they fit me so I knew they'd fit her). I just used a super soft inexpensive acrylic yarn. They are still warm, but it's only $2.07 a skein for Caron simply soft at WM. I used a bright green for her. And I still have enough yarn to make a couple more sets if I wanted. I used only one strand of yarn for hers(on a loom rem) so it gave her a more lacy effect. 2 strands make it thicker. Still pretty warm-I made myself a standard set in black to try out...I wear them when I'm walking the dog when it's chilly.

I'm knitting most of my Christmas presents this year. I did a few scarves & a hat this past Christmas & they were big hits! I want to learn how to do socks & fingerless gloves, & I found a nifty afghan pattern for free online that I want to make for someone (haven't decided who the lucky person is yet).

I am. I plan do do funky hats and scarves for the close friends of the girls. Maybe a scarf for their teachers.

SIL and MIL will get scarves, and will look into the fingerless gloves. I enjoyed knitting with the looms, so maybe I'll figure that out more too. Anyone have the online patterns for the gloves?

I think I'll do some heavy socks/slippers on the loom too, I started a set one year, they were cool, but make them too small..lol.

Oc course dish cloths. I happen to really like those, I can do them anywhere, think I'll see if the loom can handle them too.

Here is a pattern online-though i used Isela's instructions in her loom primer-I borrowed from the library and then my mom bought it for me for christmas-the instructions were easy-i used a long loom the second time, just picked one w more stitches than i needed.you could bet a pair done while watching tv/a movie. i was faster on the second one even though it was longer cause i had it down. super easy-a good project for a teen.
