Default Guess what~ Christmas 2009 fun

Dh and I were talking about how we spend so much on holiday gifts that seem to be forgotten 2 weeks later and that it is the good times you remember and not the presents. We were talking about how fun it would be to take a WHOLE family trip for Christmas. Christmas is so huge because it is important to MIL. It's not that way on my side. Guess what!!! Everyone thought it was a terrific idea. How cool is that. Now that is a memory everyone will remember! A cruise was brought up. I wasn't thinking quite that big but sure we would love to! Dh and I had just finished saving for braces and were just getting ready to start saving for a dream ~out of the USA vacation with the kids before the oldest was grown (15 now). Well a cruise with my side (only 4 people) and Dh's side of the family (20) sure sounds like it would fit the bill!
Christmas 2009 gives everyone a good amount of time to save for it (because we will need that time!). Doesn't that sound fun???

    Thumbs up

That sounds wonderful. And a cruise sounds like
an excellent idea for all. It sure will help to make
the cruise economic by you traveling in a group.
Wonderful way to enjoy the Christmas holiday.

It does sound like fun and there isn't anything quite like making memories...one it's something you can pull out any time you want...memories that is and two they never take up room in your house or a landfill! It is a great idea!!!

Default My family had a similar confersation yesterday

    I think it sounds wonderful!

My family had our Easter dinner yesterday, and we had a similar conversation. Except we wanted our parents to foot the bill! HA HA!

But it did get me thinking along the lines that your family is thinking. Why shouldn't we sepnd our Christmas gift money on something like this? If my parents still want to do something, they can buy the souveniors or something like that!

Funny the timing on this, as I was going to follow up with my family today.

Best wishes to your family and here's to a fabulous Christmas 2009!

Coup wow this is coincidental timing then isn't it. It will definately be a lot more $ than the gifts but we will all remember it forever. Our folks are in their 60's so its best now before they can't or the kids won't want to.

Sounds like a great Christmas! One of our graduate school friends is a single dad. He's raising his 8 year old son on a minimum fixed income while getting his graduate degree. He took his son on a ski vacation for Christmas instead of buying a lot of presents or big ticket gifts. I thought that was nice, because it was a memory his son will remember forever. I think fun/happy memories are the best gifts to give anyone.

We have farm animals also. I figure that gives us plenty of time to hire someone to come 2 x a day. Plus I'll board the dogs. I'm glad you brought this up because I need more $ for that.

I don't have anyone to hire. My DS has expensive coon dogs that we can't just let someone come in.
If my brother was able we would but his stroke left him in a wheelchair.

Awww that is too bad Holly! I figure I'll hire one of the Amish boys down the road.
