    Default Any free Virus Programs?

Can anyone point me in the direction of a free virus scanner?

Right now I use Norton that I pay for...and I'm unsubscribing their auto-renewel, but I don't want to do that until I find something just as good.

On an old computer I had..I used to use AVG or something like that. Is that just as good?

    Can anyone help?

I use AVG and have never had any virus's. That said though, I am VERY selective in what I download and what sites I visit.

Try checking out your internet service provider. I know Comcast and Verizon both offer free complete tools for subscribers/customers.

I dropped AVG and am using MS Security Essentials for anti-virus and anti-malware...working great so far. It's for newer PCs

Another vote for Avast here. It has caught things other programs didn't even find. avast! - Download Free Antivirus Software or Internet Security

I also use the free version of Malwarebytes. Malwarebytes

I used AVG for years, but seemed to slow down my computer. It did work, though.

Like Booklover, I have used Avast for years and never had a problem. I was using AVG when a virus called bloodhound struck. Then I went through paid or trial versions of Norton, McAfee, and some others. Nothing was helping get rid of this virus. Somehow, I stumbled across the site for Avast and it took care of the virus so I've never looked back. I think what I like most about Avast is that it updates itself frequently. No anti-virus will protect your computer 100% because there are so many new viruses coming out each day that the programmers can't keep up.

We also use AdAware by Lavasoft for tracking cookies and that sort of thing.

I'm going to throw Avira AntiVir Personal into the ring too. I've used it the past 5 years without issue. I've used AVG and Avast before too. Avira plays nice with Windows 7, but I suppose they all do by now (or at least I hope so!).

I think you mean free ANTI virus programs.

Free viruses (aka virus programs) are a dime for a dozen gross.
If you could kick in the pants the person responsible for your problems, you wouldn't be able to sit for a month.

Did you know that a 4 year student paying $20,000/year who finances their education graduates with over $103,000 in debt to start? But a student who works and pays cash and takes 6 years to graduate ends with $6,300 in their pocket! So much for "getting a head start by financing!"
