Piney I have had Norton for the last 3 years, if you paid with your cc I would call them up and tell them that you have proof that you paid for Norton, they should take care of it, if not make a complaint and ask to talk to someone higher up.

I bought my last Norton Antiviruis in Feb 2011 by internet using my debit card. just tell them that you have proof and that they should reimburse you for what you paid. Show them proof even if you have to fax it.

    Good luck.

Tell your credit card company that you are disputing the $49.99 charge and tell them why. They'll reverse it.

I always buy my Norton in a store, I like having the CD in case it crashes and I have to re-install it.

My daughter bought it online..once. It took her 17 hours to download on a new computer. I had the disl but it used so much file space my new computer took forever to load so I installed AVG for the free trial and haven't had a problem.

Do a chargeback on your credit card, and then download either Avast or AVG for free.

Hey after using McAfee's, Norton, AVG, Kaperski, and a few others, and I hate to say this, Microsoft Windows Defender has been working for me for a couple years now with no problem. It's free.

Unless Norton changed recently, it's a system hog. I'd never buy it again.

I use two programs to protect my computer-- BOTH are FREE (personally I think Norton is a complain scam!):

    Microsoft Security Essentials
    COMODO Firewall

Both are continuously running on my Windows 7 laptopl~ never had an issue. COMODO will pop up a warning if I go to a site that has an issue and lets me decide if I want to go ahead or not.

MSE is schedules to do a quick scan every day at 8pm, so I can be sure that if something is on my computer it gets off quickly.

    For cleaning my computer...
I use two free programs every 2 weeks or so:
    Advanced System Care
CCleaner (use to be known as Crap Cleaner)

    Good luck!

I am not a computer nerd........but that is what I was told too........by my computer nerd. I dropped it years ago. Also heard that their
updates were REALLY SLOW in coming.

I hate Norton, it leaves too big of a footprint and can slow down computer usage. I have AVG right now and I am pretty satisfied with it. Remember not to always listen to the geeks, if they are with a company they sometimes have contracts with these anti-virus companies and will push those products on you. Just do some research about the software, see what people are saying and what the file size is.

Free AVG here for about 4 years now. No viruses, keep it updated, and let it run the scans every day.
