Default I need a good virus checker and other stuff

I have just got a new computer as my old one got some horrible virus or something and completely messed up so badly I couldn't use it anymore!

I even did a clean install and it still wouldn't work.

So anyway now I'm back in business again but I need to get a good virus checker and whatever else I might need to stay protected

A free one would be REALLY nice if that's possible ?

    Can you help me ?

    Thanks

We have used Norton for years and have never had any trouble. It is not free but it is good. We have also used McAfee too, I liked it too but we were just pretty brand loyal to Norton.

We've always used Norton but I've heard good reports about the free AVG!

    Thank you everybody

I downloaded the free one for now (Thanks Karen) and I'm looking at norton on eBay to buy, as soon as I have the money.

You're right Robin - It's definately cheaper than buying another computer! The whole thing has cost a fortune and was a very miserable lesson to learn.

Still watch out I'm back in action for now

I too use Norton. It is so worth it. I also have the Norton Firewall. Since we have cable, people are always trying to hack into my computer. I would recommend both of them. Also, keep up your virus subscription as well. That way you are always protected against the new stuff that they find.
