I am trying to change my avitar, but forgot how to resize the pic with irfanview. Also Sara always tells me how to save it as JPG? GIF? Man I forgot. Now I cant even get the image posted to ask for help with it. Anyone know how to help me?

Here is a file I saved when I typed it up on IrfanView. I hope it helps you Robin.

    Irfanview Help

Okay open the pic you want to post. If you chose all picture types when you downloaded Irfanview, it should open up in Irfanview. If not,

    Open Irfanview
    Options
    Properties
    Extensions
On the right hand side select "images only"
    Click Okay

That will make sure all image types open with this program.

Now open the picture you want to post. If it needs to be smaller (resized) do the following

    Resize/Resample
The "set new size" radio dial is selected with the "width" figure highlighted. Change the width to whatever size you need. ( If it is for an avatar, I use 200-250) The heigth will automatically change to go with the width.

If you are satisfied with the size,

    click on File
    Save As
name the picture what you want and make sure it is a JPG or JPEG file extension.
It will have the same name as the original, so add a number after it to distinguish between the two, or change the name entirely, your choice.
Click save. (I'm assuming you are keeping pictures in "My Pictures" file that can be found under the "My Documents" file folder.

By using the "save as" feature you retain the original picture in case you want to print it ect... at a later date. If you just use the "save" feature you will loose your original.

Now when you want to upload it to the forums:

Start a new post or if replying to another post you must click on "Post Reply" at the bottom of any post.

Type up your post or reply
Click on "Browse" box next to "Attach File"
Find your resized picture (where ever you filed it)
    Click on "Open"
that box closes and your file extension is now in the "Attach File" box at the bottom of your post.
    Click "Submit Reply"

When I try to resize, the resize option is not highlighted and will not open?

That generally means the person that created the graphic has 'locked' it somehow and no you cannot resize it then. Sorry Robin.
