Saving Your Bookmarks or Favorites...How To.

Do you "back up" your bookmarks?

This is something that you should do about once a month. Not hard to do, but in the event your computer goes - you’ll have your bookmarks of your favorite sites to reload.

Instructions:

First, open up your main hard drive. This is usually "C". You’ll find it by double clicking on your "My Computer" icon on your desk top. When you locate it, double click on it to open it.

Second, find your "Windows" folder. Double click on it to open. You will be warned about modifying the files, click on the highlighted "open" or "show files". You won’t be removing or changing any files, just copying them.

Third, make sure that you have either a blank floppy disk or RW disk in you CD.

Fourth, find your "Favorites" file (hint: It should have a blue star on it)

Five, with your mouse, left click on the folder. A menu will open. Find the "Send To" another menu will open. Find your floppy drive (3 1/2 floppy) or you CD drive.

Six, click on either your floppy or RW-CD drive. It will then copy all of your favorites to the disk or CD.

If you ever have to have your main drive formatted and your programs reloaded, you can reload you favorites to your browser from the disk.

I have lost my 'favorites' more times than I would like to count.

I should say (as if I have to) to make sure that you label the disk "Bookmarks" and the date you last backed up. This is helpful information.
