Exclamation My computer is going crazy

Okey, this happened a few weeks ago, once last week and then again about 5 minutes ago.

I'll be surfing the net and either click on a link, try to open a new window or I'll be maximizing a page and all of a sudden the page starts duplicating and windows start opening up like crazy. Since all the windows after 7 or so open up are grouped together I'll click it and say "close group" it starts closing those but at the same time opening up all over again. The first to time I just cut the computer off manually. This time after trying to "End Task" everything locked up they FINALLY all closed

    Any idea what's causing it

My guess would be a virus or spyware stuff. Have you got adware or spybot?? They are free programs you can download and they will help. Just google the names and they should come up.

Thanks for the info Arlene, I'll check it out and see if that helps.

I had a "trojan detected and cleaned" warning pop earlier today so I was planning on doing a virus scan (I started one earlier and then had to print some stuff for our taxes so I cancelled it and never started it back.

I'll start one in a minute when I go eat.

I had that happen on my old computer-- I never did know what caused it, but, I suspected a virus. I remember that it was very frustrating! That was shortly before I got a new computer, so, we never really investigated-- we gave the old one away to someone who knew how to fix computers. I hope you get yours fixed!

I have had that happen a few times too, and it seems like i can't close the opening boxes fast enough, it's a mess. hope you figure it out, i wind up having to shut down my computer and let it reboot itself when i push the on button again. Not fun.

I can't close them fast enough either. THis time I just kept hittin Ctrl + Alt + Delete until the box pop up to "End Task" It locked up the whole thing for awhile. The first 2 times I just cut the computer off as well.

I did the virus scan and there were none found. Not sure what it is.

Virus, malware, spyware. Scan your computer with updated virus definitions.
Also as mentionned above use some anti spyware if your using explorer.
