Got a pan of these in the oven right now. I stopped making them awhile back, and DH has requested them again. He needs an easy, healthier snack for at work. This pan has no PB (because I forgot about that version) so I put craisins in them.

I've got a ton of oatmeal and honey to use. Have to pick up some flour, butter, PB & brown sugar on my next shopping trip.

Can't wait to try these! We buy the kashi chewy bars and even they have too many ingredients for my liking!

    Are these sticky once cooled?

I'm going on vacation soon and want a snack that I can travel with or carry with me on a hot day and have it not "melt." I will be replacing the chocolate morsels with nuts of some kind and adding some whey powder to them to boost the protein content.

Not extremely sticky. They do tend to crumble a bit. They should be fine if wrapped tightly in plastic wrap.

    Making another batch right now!

I've read the recipe and comments... sounds awesome...but was wondering if anyone has tried adding instant powdered milk to add calcium and other nutrients for extra nutrition? If so, what was the results...

I just made the PB version but not actually with PB because of the nut ban at DS school...I substitued PB with soy nut butter for a school batch. THEY TURNED OUT GREAT (and I'm NOT a fan of soy nut butter normally if ya know what I mean)!!!!
    THANK YOU FOR THIS RECIPE!
I'm going to make another batch with butterscotch chips and raisins...the variations are endless I love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ohhh I please give us an update if you decide to experiment with the PM!! I'm always interested in added protein options in things that do not involve nuts (school ban) and additional fiber. I would think things like wheat germ, flax seed, sunflower seeds etc could easily be slipped in.

Just made these for desert and made the following substitutions and they turned out fantastic!

3/4 cup of spelt flour instead of flour
1/8 cup of Turbinado sugar instead of 1/3 regular
    1/4 cup wheat germ
    1/4 cup sunflower seeds
    1/2 cup dried cranberries
1/4 cup chocolate chips made with coconut oil
    1/4cup pecans
    1/4 cup dried unsulphured apricots

ETA: after consensus will just leave the sugar out next time and have just the 1/2 honey, we didn't need both.
