Default Black Walnut and Oatmeal Cookies

    Black Walnut and Oatmeal Cookies

    Recipe Description
Free-for-the-picking black walnuts are plentiful this year and this is a favorite cookie recipe I always make for the first black walnuts we harvest. The recipe was from the back of a bag of Hammons Black Walnuts and found in my mom's stash of recipes I inherited.
    Preparation Steps:Level of Difficulty:
    Easy
    Time Needed:Ingredients:
    3/4 c. brown sugar
    1/2 c. sugar
    1 egg
    1-1/4 c. butter
    1 t. vanilla
    3 c. oatmeal
    1-1/2 c. flour
1/2 c. raisins or chocolate chips (Optional)
    1-1/4 t. cinnamon
    1 t. baking soda
    3/4 t. salt
    1/4 t. nutmeg
    2 c. Hammons Black Walnuts (I use 1-cup)
    Serves:Directions:
Mix sugar, egg, butter and vanilla together. Stir in dry ingredients and black walnuts. Spoon onto a cookie sheet. Bake in preheated oven at 350°F for 10-minutes. Remove from oven and let cool. Makes 3 dozen.

    Sounds good.

My parents always put tons of walnuts in our stockings every year.

Mahalo GrainLady - these sound so good - the type of cookie I can convince myself is actually healthy for breakfast with a cup of tea!!
