Money and coupons
Money. That’s what people care about. That’s what the bottom line is about. Yet people can be absolutely paranoid about some things and completely negligent about others when it comes to their money. People will spend hundreds dollars going out to eat at a very nice restaurant, but then they’ll go out of their way to save a few cents on gas. They’ll replace their halogen light bulbs with more efficient light bulbs, but leave the door open for 30 minutes during the summer. People will replace their old refrigerators with new energy efficient ones, and then leave the refrigerator’s open, costing them more energy in the long run because the fridge’s they bought are bigger than they’re old ones macy's is only a liable choice when using macy's coupons. The moral is that money is way to powerful

I wouldn't say that I go to those extremes, but yes, I am frugal on some things so that I can afford things that I normally wouldn't be able to buy otherwise.

I have to second what Michelle said. My husband and I don't have alot of "splurges" but we are thankful that we can afford them when we want them due to our frugal lifestyle.

Me too! I 3rd it! I gotta do it for "something". I don't go out of my way to waste money, just so I can waste it. No, my little stash that I build on every week is for things the family can enjoy w/o using CCs. I'm pretty proud of myself. My coupon savings have took us on mini-vacations, redecorating, and going places. I also get almost all the kids clothes with it. It's become my lifestyle, and I'm always up for the challenge!

Interesting post!

Well, I love saving money, but sometimes it may appear to others I'm wasting it. We enjoy eating out & spend quite a bit on our pets. However, it balances out with other things we do to save like thrift shopping or get clearence deals, loss leaders at the grocery store (sometimes I have coupons too), cutting electric use, no extras (cell phones, cable & such) & no car payment. I think some are trying to save a little here & there so they can spend more somewhere else. It could be a budget thing or simply I'm saving some so I don't feel guilty splurging when I want.
May Groceries $238/250 Pet Supplies $111/125
Coupons $50.08
April Groceries $253/250 Pet Supplies $109/125
Coupons $34
Coupon Saving 2012 $165.61
2011 $376.25

Frugality is not an all or nothing proposition. It's about finding a balance between the resources you have (money) and what you value or like.
If making laundry soap saves me $20 that I can then put towards a pair of $100 (or more) shoes, then I'm going to do it. You might think it's foolish to make my own laundry soap, but spend that kind of money on shoes, but I happen to like fancy shoes and would rather spend my money on fancy shoes than laundry soap.
I don't think that money is necessarily the bottom line for everyone. It is for some people, but for me, frugality is not about hoarding money. It's about getting the most for my money, and that means cutting corners on things that are less important to me so I can spend more money on things that are important to me.

I agree with all of your replies! It is YOUR money, and its about what YOU want to do with it! Saving, spending, frugality, wastefulness...it's all YOUR choice!
I know that I was VERY wasteful spending up until recently and I have a LOT of debt to show for it! Now I save FOR my debt...I want to KNOCK it out! I search for sales, coupons, freebies, so we can still get nice things, and not have to blow the money!
And if I can save $50 a month grocery shopping, then we could go out to eat at a nice place and not feel guilty!...(or, pay $50 extra on a bill!) Either way, you have to enjoy the money you make! You worked for it!
I also know where you are coming from laridar! I know those who are constantly complaining about being broke, and barely scraping by, yet they eat out constantly, and are always getting name brand clothes FULL price. It seems silly to me, but I just hug my coupons and circulars and go on!

I'm guessing that was some sort of random spam post...since the tags are all about a specific retailer...weird!

That's just what I was thinking along with what is the point of this? Money and coupons, ummm no mention of coupons until the last line. Coupons are money in your pocket if you use them. And the Macy's line makes no sense to me?????? What does that have to do with Coupons?
