    Default Deal...check ordering

If you need to order checks my dd told me about a great deal! You can get 4 boxes of single checks for $14 or duplicate checks for $16. There is a code to get an additional $3 off your order if you place it online...4checks.com is the site and the code for the coupon is DE5128.

Be very very careful ordering checks from any place other than your bank.

If there is a mistake on either your end or the check manufacturer's end, the bank is under NO obligation to fix it for you.

We had a customer at the bank order checks through some place like that. Her account number was wrong. She had set up her direct deposit with it, which meant the bank was rejecting the direct deposit as an invalid account, and checks she was writing were being returned as invalid account. She got hit with a lot of fees from the places she was bouncing checks at and went through a heck of an ordeal getting it fixed with her employer.

Moral to the story: BE VERY CAREFUL! Check and double-check your checks for accuracy of both the routing number and your account number!

The first thing you always should do whether you order via mail order or through your bank is check to make sure all your info is correct. Would have sucked to be that lady!!! Couldn't imagine the hassle she had to go through.

I have been ordering checks through the mail for over 20 years and have never, ever had a problem. Besides for me $2.75 for 200 checks is too good of a deal to pass up...and I don't know of any bank that has prices that good!

My bank has very comparable pricing. I pay about 18$ for a box of checks. Knowing that the bank will cover and help correct an error since they were the ones responsible for ordering the checks is worth that extra 2$ to me.

But then again, I rarely write checks so I only buy about one box of checks a year. If I wrote a lot of checks, I might consider a more frugal alternative like the one you suggested.

A few years ago (when I was ordering checks) I had that happen only thank god it wasn't my acct. number but the name/address info and check number. They corrected it for me with no problem.

The other thing - our banks 'very grudgingly' will accept mailed checks from another company - the order of checks I am talking about - which is much safer to have them mailed to your bank.

My bank now gives me free checks.......great bene! The basic style, but who cares........not I!
