Coupon Dispute at Walmart
I had mapped out my deals at Walmart with my coupons and decided to go after school with all four kids. BIG mistake! On the internet I found this deal on Lunchables which should have worked out to a .25 a piece. I decided to go for it since I couldn't make a lunch that cheap. The Lunchables were supposed to be on sale for $1.00 with a .75 coupon. When I got there, the sign said 1.25 so okay now its a .50 lunch and my boys are excited. I go to check out they ring up at 1.53 with a huge line behind me. Don't sweat the small stuff- Right. I go to check out - with my coupons- one for each lunchable. The cashier looks at me and says, "You can't double. The coupon states DO NOT DOUBLE". Understand, I'm not trying to double the coupon. I have a .75 coupon for each Lunchable I am buying. I could not get her to understand that that is not what the coupon means. I go to grocery stores all the time that double- I just wanted to use a coupon for each Lunchable I am buying. She looked at me like I was crazy. I simply looked at her and said, "I understand. Thank you." It didn't seem worth the battle with the huge line behind me. Another reason I hate Walmart. Am I crazy?

So did you buy them? Considering that "Lunchables" are basically nothing but fat and salt, I'm hoping you left them on the counter! It does sound like typical Walmart customer service. I have one just down the road from me, and I go in maybe twice a year. It takes me six months to recover from each visit!

you can take the receipt in and tell them what happened..they should give you the difference if you got them
i know i hate walmart..i have been doing really really well couponing at ukrops (double up to .99 on wed) and kroger but i went to walmart to see what i did...and i only saved about $40.00 off of $122.00 when typically i save 50-70% off my totals
and i get stuck taking the kids ALL the time..sucks..and the hubby wonders why it takes me HOURS!!..lol

I went once for groceries and I'll never go back, if I can help it anyway. I bought probably a total of 12 items and only about half came up for the price it was advertised on the shelf for. I've heard from other people that you have to watch the prices ring up like a hawk if you don't want to get screwed.

Madhen - you are so funny - please let us know the next time you are going to WM so we can send get well cards!!
Walmart seems to definitely lost their respect for the buying public - what a shame - it could have continued to be a win-win situation for all - we get good prices and good service, they get out business - so simple, so sad.Travel light. The baggage of the past can only hold you back.

Poor cashier training. Plain and simple. I rarely use a coupon there after a bad experience.

I am giggling hysterically but not at your expense. I recently started super couponing. I go to the matching sights and figure it all out . I am about to ask these ladies how they get around cashiers that are SO lazy. Or don't even care about the policies let alone do their job.
I just lost $5. at Target because the girl entered the G.C. as a coupon. I told it wasn't doing it right because it should be this amt. She said it was something the machine just did . Like it was magical and i wasn't capable fo the mysterious-"math".
I found the best thing to do is go often, make friends, let somethings slide and STAY OUT OF WALMART. BEcause it only leads to sorrow and high blood pressure. Seriously, the couponers always advice carrying a company policy w/ you and know IT IS ALWAYS up to the mangers descretion. Sorry.I feel ya.

I had the same thing happen at Safeway last week. I had prefigured on how much my bill should be with my coupons and it came up about $30 more than it should have been....I told her that something was wrong....she tried to insist that it was right....I told her to give me back my coupons and to void the sale.... I went back later...and the total was exactly like i had planned in the first place...you really do have to watch it!!!

I am not sure about in the US, but here in Canada there is a scanning code of practice that states:
If the scanned price of a non-price item is higher than the shelf price or any other displayed price, the customer is entitled to receive the first item free, up to a $10 maximum. If a Code of Practice problem cannot be resolved at the store level, please call 1-866-499-4599 to register your complaint.Kelly

This is terrible but they shake me because I lack confidence because i don't want to embarass my family or be that customer. I try to shop when I have time and alone. I go early and try to stand my ground but.. Sometime they are so insistant that they could insist my name is Fred and I would have to check my drivers license. As I get better at this rolling coupons, and coupon plus sale plus incentive they better watch out.lol

U.S-If the scanned price is higher than the marked price you get 10x the diff. But believe me they wiggle. We are a pricing state but everything is not priced. They act like you are a crook and you put the wrong sign up.

One of just many reasons I dislike WM. Target used to be really bad with the pricing but WM has taken over the lead, IMO.
But they ALL have to be watched - coupon or no coupon.
I do a couple things when I am in a store like that ---#1 I warn the person BEHIND me that I have coupons (MANY have moved on to another line!
) #2 I stand my ground.

Thanks for responding. I have always couponed, but lately i have taken it to a new level and my grocery bill has dropped big time. I have such high medical bills right now that I had to provide some wiggle room in the budget somewhere. I always have my total down to a tee and I do not impulse shop. We stay to the list so I was really irate. No one around me, including my husband, realizes at what level I am as far as couponing and rebates so I really needed to vent.
Sometimes, I feel like I need to give each cashier a lesson on their store's coupon policy. I am honest as I can be and obtain my coupons legally so I hate feeling like I am a crook when I walk out of the store with a buggy spilling over for $40.00 and the cashier announcing to the group behind me that I saved more than I spent- again. What's a girl to do? Thanks for being my sounding board.
