    Default Groupons!

I ran accross this article on a local TV stations (Channel 7) website. Just another way to save a few bucks but it doesn't appear to be available everywhere.
They are basically one day deals, but read the entire story.

Saving with Groupons! || WXYZ.com | WXYZ-TV / Detroit | Detroit News, Weather, Sports and More

    How a "Groupon" Works

But you don’t just automatically get the Groupon if you like the deal. No, you’ve got to hope other people are just like you and like it too. That’s because each deal has a minimum number of people required, or a group, before it’s a go.
Thus the name Groupon. If you want to buy it, you enter your credit card number. If enough others don’t join in, your credit card will not be charged. If it is a go, you’re sent a receipt with a link to the Groupon you can print off.
    Anybody ever hear of this?

    How to Sign Up

If you want to start saving, all it takes is entering your email address at Groupon Deal of the Day: Find Great Deals on Fun Things to Do in Philadelphia.

You will obviously need to enter your own city.

A friend sent me a link and I signed up a week or so ago. I get an email every day, but so far I haven't seen anything of interest to me.

I use Groupon quite frequently here in the DC metro area. The few times I tried it, I got some really good deals on items that I wanted or was in the markt for.

I love Groupon! We get some great deals here in the Portland area. We also have the half price deals posted on a few of our local radio station's websites -- I'm always on the lookout for a good deal on places we enjoying going/things we enjoy doing!!

I just scored 56% off some theater tix @ Indiana Repretory (I KNOW it's spelled wrong) Theater. Some of the deals are things like spa treatments, restaurants, sporting and theater tix, hot air balloon rides. I find something I like about once every two weeks.

I just signed up. Looks really cool. I do wish they had one a bit more local for me though... I had to sign up for the Minneapolis/St. Paul one, which is a couple of hours away from me. But I do go up there every other weekend for my kids to see their dad, so you never know!

I love groupon! They have all sorts of things at 50% off and more. Recently I bought a groupon for $9 for $25 worth of prepared meals through a personal chef. I got 4 nice easy meals for that.

Also I got tickets to our Melodrama theatre w/dinner buffet for more than half off!

I also look at other surrounding cities groupon deals to see if they have any good deals.

Yup! I signed up immediately upon it's intro a few months ago. I sent out the invites, and was supposed to receive a $10 credit for anyone I invited who joined, AND makes a purchase. Well my sil got in on a photo deal. She got her deal just fine, but I never got the $10. Its okay though, I really sent notices because I thought it was a great way to get good deals. Personally, I haven't bought one yet, but I do look everyday.

Love this site and we have a few local ones as well. Zingdeals.com and dolocaldeals.com. I've had good luck with them, although you have to spend a bit of time looking at them.

I made my first Groupon purchase today. They have a one year family membership 'plus' to the local zoo (which also has perks and discounts at other zoos across the country) for 49$. The family membership 'plus' allows admittance for two adults, all kids under 18 free, plus two additional adult guests. I priced it out--our annual trip to the zoo with my parents and niece would have set us back $55.70.

This also means I can take the kids to the zoo more often! Whoop Whoop!
