Hi all...I am new to this board. Actually, I am new to the whold couponing thing! My name is Denel, and I live in NW Alabama.

The Extreme Couponing show is what got me seeking boards like this. My hubby got me into that show. We are in serious need of help with our finances. I highly doubt I will ever save the kind of money they do on that show...but I am at least going to try to do all I can to save as much as I can.

The show has a good balance. It does show the extremes that cause issues. But it also shows people who do it to help with local shelters and food banks, large families needing to save money, moms being able to stay home with their kids because of saving money, etc.

I want to get my household to the point of not scrounging through the cupboards the week before payday, and then a little extra...just because I have recently seen mass devastation here in AL due to tornadoes. Then, I am going to start shopping for our local food banks. They can use all the help they can get!

I also got an idea that I am going to save my expired coupons and find families overseas in the military to send them to. One of the recent shows said that expired coupons can be used by them for 6 months past the expiration. So, why not help them out, too? Right?

Anyway, any of you that have any tips for me...advice...etc...please let me know. I can use all the help I can get as well...lol.

The Extreme Coupouning on TLC is one of the most popular and exiting game shows. These types of game increasing day to day all over in the media. I along with my Grand father watch the show . I watch mainly for the trainwreck appeal, but it is nice because they have the occasional episode where the person buys what they need for their family and 99% of stuff goes to charity.

Did they even bring this show back this year? I only watch for entertainment when they have like a Sunday marathon.

My daughter in Tn was in Walmart a few years ago and behind a woman not only with a huge binder but was price matching. Took 3 cashiers ( and they had cashiers period cut to a minimum ) and an assistant manager was called over too. People were all gathered around to watch so it must have been bad.

She was hot to say the least. She had very few items and when she got home emailed the manager at the store. He called her and apologized. He said it shouldn't have happened and asked what he could do to make it right. Daughter said she didn't know if she'd ever go back and if she walked in and saw someone with a binder she'd walk out the door.

I told her she'd been with me when I've couponed and she said yeah, but you're organized.

I heard that the show was renewed but I can't seem to find it online. (not enough coffee in me yet this morning) I did see a commercial a few weeks ago though. I believe its coming back in April.

    From last nights show:

Another one of those.... tons of cat treats and no cat. Hope it gets donated.

Her DIL is now stocked on laundry detergent for sure. Enough pain meds to last a hospital for years! heh - Palooka, 04-22-2012

That show aired in Belgium last Sunday and I was shocked at the medicine, first that they just emptied that whole basket and second that they thought they would need that much in their lifetime.

I found it addictive to watch so much selfishness and greediness.

UGH...in my post above I said my daughter and that that happened a few years ago...reread and should have said a few weeks ago. Geesh...
Anyway, don't know that she's been back. She was beyond ticked.

I bet the lady donated the cat food to a shelter.

Was also reading where a bunch of these people were using fraud coupons. Buying free coupons like off Ebay and they were homemade. One of these were one of the younger boys.

Niko, please tell your daughter I am a proud binder-carrier.....but would never hold up the rest fo the world like that! Lots of coupons can=selfishness and disrespect for others, but plenty of us out there who also realize we're not the only people on this planet!

I only like the newer episodes where they're gathering for charity and it's not all 207 gum packs and 98 boxes of tampons.

Aw Khaski...I carry either a binder or box too. I told her it wasn't actually the womans fault...it shouldn't have taken 3 cashiers and an assistant manager called over to take care of one person. The other 2 cashiers SHOULD have been working other registers period. People were lined up down the aisles waiting to get checked out and those that weren't were standing around watching.

I think what really got the daughter was also that the woman doing the couponing liked the attention and did some grand standing, which took up even MORE time. She's been with me before and got a kick out of it. But I don't grand stand.

Nope, the cashiers should have been at their own registers.

Sounds like poor management. The manager that came over should have told the two cashiers to go back to their own jobs.
