Default Paper, Paper, what went wrong

I live in a rural area. The local paper does not carry all the inserts and the ones that they do, have a limited amount of coupons to use. I guess they believe everyone is sitting on a farm. Plus the paper cost 2.00. It makes no sense for me to continue to buy or have it delivered. I have asked the local paper can I buy extra inserts and they tell me to buy more papers. I am writing to the paper and ask them why thier inserts are so limited. We shall see what reply I get this time. I did get one coupon from KFC. Buy one of thier 5.00 meals and get the second free. We just happened to have two papers(my brother-in-law came home with one), so we did not have to cook for two days. I also have started reading the magazine Allyou. They always have coupons in their magazine and it is worth the price. To save even more money, at my local library, they have a space where you can buy books, movies and magazines. They usually sell for 10 to 25 cents. I will ususally buy the magazines close to the month that we are in and pull coupons from those. Another avenue, my husband is a vet. They are always asking to take some of the magazines home, because they have so many. They will put them on a cart for FREE, along with books. I will cut the expires one out and send them to the enlisted families. A girl gotta do what a girl gotta do.

Default what i do is buy thursday's paper

that has the shaws flyer in it and come home look through and see what items are free or almost free and then go to ebay and purchase my coupons there or purchase huge lots of inserts from a guy i know and take what i need and then trade the rest on ebay...do pretty well at it and that way i get my coupons for free....i purchased 12 packs of hot dogs today for .50 each after coupons and brought them home...cooked for a couple of minutes and then put them in a jgallon ar and made pickled hotdogs or more known as pickled sausages...my son loves them......i have enough left to make another jar...and plan on picking up more tomorrow...i have decided that i can use this them in a macaroni and cheese casseroles...they are the cheap hot dogs so dh doesn't want to eat them in a roll etc...so i need to figure out ways to use them up...but for .50 a package who can beat it...

Do you have access to the next closest big town or city's newspaper? My local will not always carry all the inserts if any either, but I buy the next largest cities newspaper and they always have all the weekly inserts that they should!

I would suggest anyone dissatisfied with their paper's coupon fliers consider using a clipping service- I like
    https://www.thecouponmaster.com/index.php
    http://www.suite101.com/external_lin...onclippers.com.

Order just the coupons you will use, you can get multiples to really stock up the savings.

For instance, I have $1/1 c for 'Dan-i-nino' yogurts, hav a rain check from the grocery store to buy 10 @ $1.50 each/ 6 pack- after coupon will cost me .50 each, my kids love these and they freeze well. I also have 10 b1g1free coupons for 8 or 9 oz Ken's dressings- on sale at the store this week for $1 each, I'll pay .50 each after coupon.
Services are a great way to get the coupons you 'really' want, in bulk.

I believe the paper can not just sell you the inserts because it is illegal to sell coupons.

That's true- clipping services skirt that issue by having you pay for their time and energy clipping and sorting the coupons, not the coupons themselves. You have to decide for you yourself if you're OK with that.

I used to have a paper distribution route, and there was no way to get extra inserts. We got just what we needed no extra. If I accidentally gave one carrier extra, I would shortchange another. HTH

I had a newspaper route that included stores and the newstands, while its true we normally only got as many inserts as we needed to fill our papers once in awhile there were extra. Maybe call a carrier or two to see if they have a newsrack, if they have papers that dont sell in those racks then they have to take them out the next day. They do need the paper to get credit for unsold papers, (usually just the header date) but they could give you the inserts from the unsold papers. Also, we have a convenient store close to us and we frequent it often, sometimes they dont sell all of their sunday papers and have leftovers. To get the papers you would still have to buy it or the store is charged but again the store only has to turn in the front of the paper, not the entire thing so those usually end up in the dumpster, the people that work there now save the coupons for me and call me if I want them
