That's all that shows up on the articles. If you still clip to save -- and increasingly fewer of us do -- you'll soon be able to stop. Instead, you'll get discounts electronically. Here's how that will work.

I read the whole thing....very onteresting. I think coupons are much less frequent in Canada than in the US.

It finally showed.

One thing the article doesn't mention...that's in favor of manufacturers is they will be able to control how many coupons (of the same or different) that one person can use. If it's electronic and they decide only one per person, there will be no "buying" multiples on the internet anymore.

Well that would save on paper. It would also help me when I run errands and remember that my coupons are still at home..he he!

I didn't like the tone of the article and I am sure that whatever they do it will not be to help us the consumer.

That is what I am thinking. I barely remember to bring them with me at all sometimes. I just set it up for auto couponing with my Kroger Plus Card. I guess if you buy a lot at once it would be a downer, but I just can't buy a lot at once. A family of three just doesn't use that much stuff before it goes bad, freezer burns, or takes up too much space, etc. One of the hardest frugal lessons I had to learn was that it doesn't always pay for ME to stock up.

Also I read this:
Conceivably, Nelson said, you could triple-dip and use paper coupons -- those printed off the Web and those you load to the card. Instead of buying three Sunday papers to get deals on three of the same products, you could print one off the Web (you can find click-and-print coupons on sites such as CoolSavings, SmartSource and RedPlum), load one to your card and use your Sunday coupons.

Just 3?!?!? They don't know some of us very well, do they? I've seen this rumoured for quite sometime. I pray it stays a rumour!

If this happens... I won't be able to use coupons... period.
We have 3 grocery stores in town... all the same chain! They don't accept web-printed coupons, and they don't have a 'shoppers card'
I can't be out of money... I still have checks left!

It is not a rumor. I just did it and loaded about $50 bucks of coupons onto my Kroger Plus Card. For those with KPCs, you can go to their website, register or log in, and they will direct you to sites that they have partnered with to allow you to dl coupons onto your card.
The article said that manufacturers have no plans period to discontinue paper coupons.
