    Exclamation Treble Crochet Tutorial

I have done this tutorial with different colored yarns in sequence to make the stitches. I will be referring to each color in the pictures. I have tried to do this taking less pictures. So if you do not understand, please ask. In all pictures I will be referring to, I will go from top to bottom.

    Treble Crochet Tutorial

This tutorial will be done making 5 stitches.

Top Yellow - Chain 8, I have marked the 5th stitch from the hook, this is where you will insert your hook. The 4 chain stitches between the marked one and the hook count as 1 treble crochet.

Middle Purple - Yarn over your hook twice.

Bottom White - Insert hook into the 5th chain from the hook.

In this next picture is the completed 5 stitches. Starting on the right hand side I have marked the top of the turning chain, the 3rd stitch and the 5th stitch, along with the corresponding ‘posts’ of those stitches.

Chain 4 (counts as the first treble crochet on the second row) and turn.

I have marked the second stitch in, this is where you will make the next stitch.

Work the next 3 treble crochets across the row.

Here is the sequence to making one treble crochet:

    1) Yarn over twice and insert in the stitch indicated.

    2) Yarn over and pull through the stitch. (4 loops on hook)

    3) Yarn over and pull through 2 loops. (3 loops on hook)

    4) Yarn over and pull through 2 loops. (2 loops on hook)

    5) Yarn over and pull through 2 loops. (1 loop on hook)

Do these 5 steps 3 times more to make the 3 stitches.

In the next picture you will have starting from the right hand side, chain 4 (counts as 1st treble) and 3 treble crochets. I have marked the top of the turning chain on row 1 to show you where you will make your last treble crochet.

This next picture is showing you to make sure you pick up both loops of the stitch.

This can be a little hard, but you will get used to it with practice.

2 rows of 5 stitches of treble crochet completed.

This stitch is much more distinctive and easy to count.
