Obviously this is only frugal if you find the steaks on sale, but pork steaks go a long way, and this meal made three meals. It could have made 4, but it was so good I had to get seconds. The garlic mellows almost to the point of being candied.
1 1/2 to 2 Lbs. Pork steak
Garlic Powder
Black Pepper
All purpose flour - enough to dredge the steaks in
1 Pkg Dried Italian Dressing - can be found near dried ranch dressing in supermarkets
Garlic cloves - I like a lot of garlic, so I used two cloves per steak, but if you want less it won't hurt the dish
Oil for frying
Mix flour, garlic powder and black pepper. Dredge steaks in mixture and sear in oil until browned. Put a steak in the crockpot, sprinkle dressing over it, and then put a garlic clove or two on it. Put another steak and do the same, and then layer with remaining steaks, dressing, and garlic until out of steaks. Cook on high 4 hours. Will be extremely tender.
