i have never done this but people are always giving me recipes that call for frozen meat like a roast. I don't like that.....makes me think of extra blood in the crockpot

This past week was nuts - and I did a no-no with the crockpot: I get ready early, early riser, I had plenty of time to load up crockpot, then because it was sooo early, I didn't want to turn it on (cause I get home late, and didn't want overcooked potatoes and pork chops). Yes, everybody out there, I did forget to actually turn it on before I left a couple hours later. Coming home, I was so excited, but when I got in, NO yummy smell met me at the door - rats! Perfectly thawed pork chops on top of still raw potatoes, pooh. (We had popcorn for dinner.)

What is the 'odd shape' sinopa? Oblong? I think they would fit.

I like them too....my pot is round but I have 'bag to spare' when I put one in there.

They are a little pricey but if they 'dump out' easy and fairly clean I have washed a couple of them.............just to stretch the cost.

When ziploc started going up I started washing out more of my 'heavy duty' bags.........crock pot---because they are pricey....and the freezer bags and food saver bags too.

Sorry sinopa27; I lost this thread so never answered your question. I use them in all 3 of my crockpots, 2 are round (just different sizes) and the other is oval shaped. It fits in both shapes with no problems.

I always crockpot cook my beans and I never soak my beans. I do cook them on high for the first couple of hours, then turn on low to cook the remainder way. I also cook frozen... or at least partially frozen meats and I always jumpstart the cooking with 1 to 2 hours on high and adjust to low till it's so done the meat falls off the bone. I guess I've done ok so far... I'm not dead yet... LOL!!! I guess if I die, I'll die with yummy beans and slow-cooked meat in my belly!!

Whenever we cook a whole chicken or a frozen roast beef, we always cover it entirely with water .. but we do it and it tastes great .. we have never been sick yet.

Here are some tips about cleaning up crockpots (about halfway down the page "Easy Slow Cooker Clean-Up.")

I don't cook things that get mushy in my crockpots. (Yes, I have two). So, my rice and pasta experiments didn't work out well. Except for

    this rice pudding.

I have a chicken and rice recipe that is supposed to go in the oven. In the summer I don't like to heat up the kitchen. So I changed up the recipe a little and cook the chicken and sauce mix in the crockpot, make the rice on the stove top, and add to the crockpot before serving. Leftovers are heated in the microwave.

Even a few beans can be toxic, and beans can be as much as five times more toxic if cooked at 80 °C (175 °F) than if eaten raw, so adequate pre-boiling is vital. Cases of poisoning by slow-cooked beans have been published in the UK; poisoning has occurred in the USA but has not been formally reported. This risk can be avoided entirely by using canned cooked beans, adding them towards the end of the recipe's cooking time.[9].
Wow, I had absolutely no idea about this and I've been making beans in the crockpot forever and always cooked them on low to boot. Thanks for sharing!

I treated myself to the 3 crocks crockpot. I have enjoyed using it to put a meat, beans and rice or a meat and 2 veggies and leaving it in there to stay warm. The crocks are small to me to be trying to cook something for dinner though. I have thought of making ribs in them and having a bbq sauce in one and a spicy (mexican) style ribs in the other. Hmmm.......interesting. Any suggestions?

I usually par boil poultry before putting it in the crock pot or put a sheet on tin foil under the lid to reach a high enough temperature.
