Chilli. During the chilly months, I love coming home from work to the comforting smell of chilli in the slow cooker.

    whole chicken
put one in the pot, season (i use garlic salt) and nothing else.let cook ~6hr on high. the meat falls off the bone and it usually makes half pot of broth. i use in all kinds of things and also freeze it for later meals.

I cook a lot of things in the crockpot, the one I like best is this - mainly because the leftovers are easy to use - to stuff baked potatoes, or for sandwiches, Pulled Pork Crock Pot) Recipe - Food.com - 131018

But what I really really love the crockpot for is for making my broths - something to remember with T-Day upon us. Just stick your chicken or turkey carcass in the pot (the turkey might make two batches), add onion, celery, carrot, peppercorns, bay leaf - whatever you like to make broth - pour in the water and let it cook. I do this in the evening and let it cook overnight. By morning I have wonderful broth. It stays really clear, you hardly have to skim any foam off. I just ladle it straight into freezer bags - 1 cup, 2 cup and quart portions - and freeze . The canned broths are so inferior plus loaded with salt. I don't add salt to my broth at all, which really helps with the low sodium diet we both need.

That's exactly what my favorite is, Jacqueline. I use either a whole chicken or chicken legs, depending what's on sale. The broth turns to gelatin in the fridge, and it's great for braising leafy greens. And there's plenty of fat which raises to the top, which I use mostly to cook eggs in the morning.

Any roast with a couple cans of Mexican stewed tomatoes on top. Nothing could be easier.

I use my crockpot a few times a week. One of my favorite things is ham. It always comes out so tender and juicy. I just add the ham, some brown sugar and pour a can of pepsi over the top. Slow cook for 8 hours. Its wonderful. I take the leftovers, shred, add barbecue sauce for sandwiches. We like the ham fixed that way better than pork loin.

I fix beef and pork roasts with cream soup, Pinto beans with and without pork in it, Beef/vegetable soups, chicken dishes, turkey breast. I also use it to keep things warm for big dinners.

Chocolate Lava Cake is my favorite. I am using my crockpot so much, I bought a 2nd smaller one. I have been known to have both crockpots and the breakmaker going on the kitchen counter at the same time.
