YUMMY beef stew!

DH found a recipe in the latest Sunset magazine for Ale Beef Stew with Green Onion dumplings. He didn't make the dumplings and instead substituted potatoes in the stew for them. It is to die fro! The meat is absolutely luscious and the taste is wonderful. No beer flavor (I don't like beer), just a great stew!

That sounds really good. I wonder how come it doesn't taste like beer when it's done. I wouldn't want it to either, I might have to give it a try. I saw another recipe floating around for porkchops in a crockpot with a can of cola. I have never tried these ideas before, but I am definitely tempted.
