Today was budget day, and snowball day. Technically our snowball day is supposed to be the last budget day of the month, but we started out with Monday being budget day, and the last 2 weeks, we've done it on Sunday, which works for us much better. So...tomorrow would be the last monday in Aug, which made tomorrow snowball day, but today is not the last sunday. We decided to stick with it still being snowball day anyway, and next month we'll be back to "normal" (if we can figure out what normal is...)

ANYWAY, long story short, a nice chunk on the snowball, and we also put the remainder of the money from the stock sale into it. Ceashel's car debt is now below $10,000. February or March will see it PIF. Maybe even sooner if we can keep being as focused as we have been.
If you could kick in the pants the person responsible for your problems, you wouldn't be able to sit for a month.

Did you know that a 4 year student paying $20,000/year who finances their education graduates with over $103,000 in debt to start? But a student who works and pays cash and takes 6 years to graduate ends with $6,300 in their pocket! So much for "getting a head start by financing!"

How much we enjoy what we have is more important than how much we have. Life is full of people who have more than they know what to do with, but cannot be content. It is the capacity to enjoy life that brings contentment.---Unknown

Woohoo! Not only did the snowball check hit the car loan today, but the regularly scheduled check hit it on the same day. Here, I was all excited because the snowball was gonna push Ceashels' car balance down below 5 figures? Well not only did her balance go below $10,000, it went below $9,000!!!

August is a 3 pay month, but we are treating the last paycheck as part of September. With "3" pays in September, Septembers snowball is gonna be huge! Her car may very well be paid off THIS YEAR. Jan 09 at the latest, at this pace!

Not much to add right now - the lull between snowball payments, next one to be calculated on 9/28. Routine payments going through. We did go a little non-frugal in the last week - we bought Spore, a new computer game I've been waiting on for nearly 2 years.

Right now the only big concern is that if we don't finish getting the apartments renovated soon, we may have to redirect the snowball to the renovations.

Sunday was the monthly snowball meeting. (Budget meetings are weekly, snowball monthly.)

Due to ceashels being unable to work for a few weeks due to some muscle/nerve pain, the snowball was notably reduced.

But more depressingly, because we have discovered still MORE work to be done in the apartments, and due to other delays, we are suspending the snowball and diverting what would be the snowball over to the business account in order to keep the momentum going on our work there.

*sigh* Sucks but we've gotta do it. The funds we set aside at the beginning of this project weren't enough. We have *got* to get a tenant in upstairs in October...

Isn't it amazing how much money a building can "eat" even when you DIY? Hope you get your tenant in October like you want to.

I'm so sorry to hear about your building projects going a bit awry. Believe me, I know how that feels from our days of construction on our house addition. Even when you think you are giving yourself a buffer, things always cost more!

Hopefully next month you'll be back on track with the snowball and the work project. It's only one month- just remember that.

More importantly, I hope your wife's pain eases up. That's tough. I'm sorry to hear that.

Stay strong - the rest of us are counting on you!
