What BS are you on?
I am back on BS1 refunding my Emergency Fund had car issues.
(I know I should have known that the car would need to have work eventually and had a fund for it but I didn't expect any trouble yet got bad gas that messed up fuel pump)
Anyway I know the plan better now than this time last year so I am hoping that refunding my EF will not take as long as it did the first time.
What step are you on and how long have you be following DR?Last edited by Janbee; 12-31-2008 at 06:31 AM.

baby step 3 (again!) trying to save 10,000, then 16,000.
i recently did a foolish thing and spent some money I should not have.
bs 1 done
bs 2 done
bs 3.1 in progress
bs 3.2 fund car replacement
bs 4.1 buy back 4.5 years texas teacher retirement
bs 4.2 15% to retirement
bs 5 college funding not applicable
bs 6 mortgage paid done
bs 7 build wealth and give I'm trying!11% gross to retirement
10% takehome to tithe and offerings
emergency fund maintained at 3000(works for me)
credit card debt 7500
mortgage free
freedom accounts/sinking funds that ebb and flow
then live on the rest!
i am trying something new. LDS church advises savings or debt repayment should be the same as the tithe. 10% each.

We've been at it since about June 2005. We are on steps 5 (kids school) & 6 (the house) with the focus more on 6. We've been here for somwhere in the area of a year. There are lots of reasons why we feel paying off the house first makes more sense for us than putting large chunks into a school fund. That said, we have every intention of putting money toward their schooling, and have small amounts being diverted that way. In our plan getting rid of the mortgage is the priority though.

Still on BS2. Our debt snowball has been eaten by an "investment" property we purchased before we started the DR plan.
*Sigh*If you could kick in the pants the person responsible for your problems, you wouldn't be able to sit for a month.
Did you know that a 4 year student paying $20,000/year who finances their education graduates with over $103,000 in debt to start? But a student who works and pays cash and takes 6 years to graduate ends with $6,300 in their pocket! So much for "getting a head start by financing!"

I just want to encourage all of you to keep going. You'll all get there. It's hard work, however it didn't happen overnight that you got to where you are and it won't happen overnight that you get to where you want to be. I'm cheering you all on. You're all doing a great job.

We are on baby step 1, we began reading The total money makeover and listening to Dave Ramsey in August 2008. We took 2 months of trail and error and adjust our living and lifestyle, along with taking our credit cards out of our wallets.
We began the step full force December 1, 2008. We do not have as much money saved as I was hoping for but with Christmas the same month we started I'm happy with what we have saved already, it's better then nothing.
