Got my fiance on board! Woohoo!
After reading Dave's book TMMO I really got excited about my money and getting out of debt. I tried explaining the book to my fiance, but I'm pretty sure everything went in one ear and out the other. I knew I had no chance of getting him to read the book so I went extreme and enrolled us both in FPU!
He was not looking forward to it, to say the least. We had our first class on Monday the 26th and we both really liked it. We are redoing our household budget and now that we have both realized that he sucks at handling money, so I'm taking over.
I'm so glad our first class went so well, I almost wish it was more than once a week, but I'm sure that feeling will pass, lol.

yeah, my dh is not good with the money. It isn't that he is spend happy--not at all--he just can't get the hang of it. Esp the pay out all you have. He always wanted to hold back, even if it meant a bill went unpaid in case of emergency..what the heck-pay the billlllssss lol!
I do a mmuch better job of it all.
It is good you and your fiance the future Mr and Mrs Frugal are starting out with all the wonderful dave Ramsey knowledge. The math never lies, budget in INK!

Now go figure this one out: My dh is great with numbers (I can do Calculus just fine, just can't add and subtract and balance a checkbook), but he never paid stuff on time when he was in charge when we were first married (granted, most of the time we had no money anyway, but still). So I took over paying the bills and taking care of the finances. Been doing it ever since. At least they were paid on time.
But over the 6 1/2 years we've been married, even though he is the cheap more frugal one and I am the more "spend-happy" type, I am finding out how to be cheap and frugal and learning to balance the checkbook (with the help of Quicken - still don't trust myself to add and subtract on paper) and I find HE is the more spend-happy one! Go figure!

Congratulations! Just make sure he is involved in the finances with you even though you handle the money. It is great to know that another couple is on the same page.

Good job getting your fiancee on board! It took me literally six months but we're going well now. He's the one whom set up the new budget too and it works so great! We always conferenced about what to spend money on before, but now it has so much more thought and consideration than it did. I don't have to worry about it on my own anymore, which is great for me.
