I too would agree with them, but I think you took it a bit too far. Yes, it's uncluttered, but it's also now barren in some places and still over packed in other rooms (kids room and office).

    Good luck

That is completely opposite of what they would say when my parents sold our house when I was a kid. I can still remember that loud, pushy woman today!

When we decided to sell our house a few years ago we went with the old "rules" against our realtors advice. It sold in less than a month. We moved into someones house for sale (they were about to lose their insurance) that had been on the market for 3 years and empty and it sold within the month of us moving in (thankfully ours was nearly built). I think the bareness just gives more confusion and distress to the unusual situations in that house.

We just sold our home on February 9th of this year It was on the market for 2 months.

We sold it for $20,000 less than what we purchased it for, we ended up loosing $50,000 (because of the market value)

Anyway, we added a home warranty to our home (cost $500 at closing) plus we gave the buyers a Seller's Concession (We paid for their closing cost). We left the washing machine and dryer and refrigerator and large child's jungle gym . The buyer's really made out like bandits.

This was the third home that we have sold. This home was the smallest of all three.

We had 2 open houses. Some of the comments we received were: It's too small, no dining room.

I couldn't change any of those things but I did make sure the house was spotless and not cluttered and not personalized but I still had pictures on the walls (not personal pictures) and felt homey. My walls were painted light beige and cream.

Spring is suppose to be the best time to sell a house but with the market the way it is, it a gamble either way. I wish you the best of luck, I know how stressful it is.

Go figure. We had resigned ourselves to finishing out the contract with the realtors and then just being stuck here for a few more years. We started talking about what we would do, and were even planning to rearrange the bedrooms (the realtor said that would be fine). My dad is coming down tomorrow for the weekend, so we were going to have him help us unload the storage unit since we need baby stuff and a bunch of other stuff that we'd rather not live without too much longer.

So we got a last-minute showing today, and I got a call back from the realtor this afternoon, and they want a 2nd showing!!!! WOW! Of course, it's not for sure, but evidently it's between 2 houses, and they like ours better! If you're the praying type, please pray that this is the one!
