Dave Ramsey books
I watched the Dave Ramsey show today for the first time and it is truly inspiring. I want to begin to follow Dave Ramsey also. What is the best book to follow first? Any advice for my new journey is also greatly appreciated. I have no idea where to start. TIA!

Total Money Makeover would be my first choice then Financial Peace. Both are inspirational and filled with information.
The Free Spirit Saver who walks the path with Greebo.
Onboard with a modified Dave Ramsey Plan
Budget: "Every month! On paper, on purpose!"
Gardening somewhere between Zone 6b and 7a.

I agree, he is totally inspirational. I listen to his podcast every day. It helps keep me focused and on track. The book the Total Money Makeover would definitely be a great place to start. There are quite a few people on this site who follow his plan. It does work.
Best of luck!~Kim~

you can listen the the radio archives for free on his website. i put them on while i clean house.
daveramsey.com
upper right hand corner there is a button called "listen now". pick the live show or the archives.11% gross to retirement
10% takehome to tithe and offerings
emergency fund maintained at 3000(works for me)
credit card debt 7500
mortgage free
freedom accounts/sinking funds that ebb and flow
then live on the rest!
i am trying something new. LDS church advises savings or debt repayment should be the same as the tithe. 10% each.

The Total Money Makeover is definitely first on the list.
I'm pretty certain you will love it.
The only thing that bothered me slightly (call me a nit for that) were the side boxes which started repeating themselves and ofter were completely inadequately situated and had nothing to do with the surrounding text. Also, the success stories were motivational at first, but there have been a few too many spread in between. Sure, every person's success if worthwhile mentioning, but printing so many turned it into a repetetive thing fairly soon.
Having said all that, the real meat of that book is worth more than you could pay for it.

I agree with the others o9n your first book. However my absolute favorite is "more than enough". Everytime I borrow it from the library and reread it I am touched! I should just buy a new copy.

Mahalo for this thread and for the solid advice. I checked out his website for the first time today and subscribed to his newsletter. Love the idea about listening to his archived radio programs while cleaning house!!

I just finished TMMO and loved it. I went to the library last week and checked out everything they had by him so I also have Financial Peace and More Than Enough to read to keep me going.

I'm planning on making a trip to the library later and I just decided what I'm going to look for, DR. Thank you all for the ideas.

I just found The Total Money Makeover at a library book sale for $1.00. I am so excited since I have been looking for one that I could afford.
