    Default Financial Peace University

On Dave's site, I noticed that the finanical peace university takes place through alot of churches. There was actually one in my town, but I work nights, so I couldn't attend.

Then I saw that the workplace was another option. I am thinking about bringing this up at work. They would probably want to see how much interest it would bring among the employees first.

As I am not familiar with how the university works, I am hoping some of you can enlighten me.

Mainly, I am wondering if people discuss their finances during the meetings. I'm not sure people at work would be willing to do this.

Debt reduction is what led me to the village originally. I just read Daves book "Total Money Makeover". I really enjoyed it!

    Thanks for your time....

As I understand it, any discussion of finances is purely optional. The FPU course is mainly a group showing of a series of DVDs, followed by general discussion about the material.
If you could kick in the pants the person responsible for your problems, you wouldn't be able to sit for a month.

Did you know that a 4 year student paying $20,000/year who finances their education graduates with over $103,000 in debt to start? But a student who works and pays cash and takes 6 years to graduate ends with $6,300 in their pocket! So much for "getting a head start by financing!"

No one at FPU is required to discuss numbers, the discussions center around attitudes about $$ and techniques for eliminating debt and just loads and loads of INFORMATION (which is power).

A former employer offered the work editions, and it was so popular they're doing it again.

Another option for you might be the online version.

When you say you work 'nights' do you really mean evenings??? Many churches offer the class in the evenings if you work overnights. And you can attend at any church in your area that offers it.

Enter several nearby ZIP codes on the website, and you will get a really large list of churches offering the course.

    Thanks for the explantions!

Mary, I work 3 to 11. All of the classes were in the evenings.

It sounds like it would provide plenty of information and motivation.

Plus, in my case, it would be nice to have someone else here that wanted to get on board with Dave that I could talk to...

    Thanks again...

    Smile financial peace

Just wanted to let you know that the financial peace university is available in a kit consisting of DVDs, workbook, books, and envelope system. It is available on Dave Ramsey website for $200.00. I work nights and husbands hours vary, so we too couldn't attend classed, so this is working well for us so far. You may want to ask a friend to go in together. Could share the kit, only thing you'd have to modify is the envelope system or buy a separte one. Hope that helps.
